Not that long ago, I got an email in my inbox mentioning all the sequels being released in the first half of 2020 and I was truly terrified to open that post and check out which sequels were on there. So scared I actually ended up not reading the post and instead making a note of it.. A note to check it out when doing blog prep and thus creating this post. Are you ready for the attack of the sequels? To drool all over the covers?
I love these covers. I really do. I don’t even know why I haven’t read The Hazel Wood yet because it sounds so good! A twisted and dark fantasy. That’s the vibe I’m getting when reading the synopsis and it’s definitely the kind of fantasy I like diving into. Why, oh why haven’t I read this yet?!
Another one I really don’t know the reason why I haven’t read it yet. Although I do remember there being a lot of mixed reviews and feelings regarding Kiersten White’s new series. That’s probably it. Maybe I’m holding off because I’m not ready to find out whether I’ll be disappointed as well? I am curious to see what kind of Buffy the Vampire Slayer-vibes it’ll give me though. Eventually! I promise! Also, feel free to convince me to read any of the first instalments asap if you have huge reasons to.
Although I feel like I got spoiled for We Set the Dark on Fire by reading some reviews on Goodreads – thanks for that.. – I’m still curious to find out how I’ll feel about this book. It’s a case of it might or might not be my cup of tea. Some things mentioned in reviews have me intrigued while others.. make me want to not pick it up. I guess I won’t be reading this one very soon but at least it’s on the TBR, right?! If you’ve read it, please do tell me what you definitely liked or disliked about it!
I have such a pretty copy of Wicked Saints and the gothic vibe, the war, the characters all sounds so good but.. You guessed it – not that hard since it’s this specific post, haha – I still haven’t read it! I’ve heard amazing things about it but I can’t seem to find the time to pick it up. It’s a simple fact I own too many books for my own good – and most of them unread too. Some day though. Some day.. [For some reason WordPress won’t let me put the series in the right order when aligning them on the right side.. Sorry about that!]
Last, but definitely not least, is The Beholder. It was one of my most anticipated releases when I saw the cover but.. the synopsis ended up being a bit disappointing? I expected pirates and action and.. I don’t know. I guess that and some reviews I read back then put me off picking it up as soon as I had originally planned. That happens, right? On that note: If you have any pirate-y recommendations for me, I’m all ears!
That’s it! All the first instalments I have yet to read, but have owned for quite some time now. I think chances are high I’ll be picking up at least Slayer and The Hazel Wood this year but who knows? Bookish life tends to be very, very unpredictable.
Hey look, the only ones on your list that aren’t on mine are Wicked Saints/Ruthless Gods…but that’s because I’ve already read both of them. I’m on Team OMG they’re AMAZING. Read them! …. But I will say I know a number of people who feel a bit more meh about Wicked Saints, so I try not to pressure others into picking them up. And I’m still unsure about actually picking up The Hazel Wood. But the other books are definitely somewhat high on my TBR…which I might be able to devour even more of that soon, depending on what continues to happen in the world.

Haha! That’s good to know! Since you’re such a fantasy-lover, I’m more convinced I’ll like them as well. 😀 Only one way to find out though..
Ha, true that. They’re arranging work from home at my job but there’s some issue with the VPN connection so I’m here like.. *tralala waiting..* Might as well do some blog / bookish stuff in the meantime.

Yeah, might as well blog while you have the time. I’ve been working on a plan for how to keep blogging if my work place shuts down because my internet is pretty limited at home, but I think I have plans in place should that happen.
I hope you enjoy whatever reading time you can get now.

Ohh. Hope those plans work out so we don’t have to miss you on here!
Thanks. I do have some reading time now and.. getting a bit frustrated over not having a reading chair in my library, haha. Jamie is in the living room (aka only cozy couch in the entire house) so I can’t read there. Guess it’ll be reading at the desk!

Ooh awesome! I always like hearing people buying books way after they’re released. Means the reviews should be good as well – at least I think so? 😛

The first thing coming to mind is Bones? For some reason? Is that weird? I have no clue.

Yes, that’s it exactly. The show was based off the books and the author’s life. I was going to mention it, but I’m never sure what American shows are popular enough to get shown in other countries.

Ha, Bones definitely is! Pretty sure it also has to do with the amazing Angel-actor being part of it, haha.
