What was March? Seriously. WHAT. WAS. IT.
I don’t know about you but I can hardly believe that many things happened in barely a month’s time. It’s nuts. Bonkers. Crazy. Unreal. And how we wish we didn’t have to say that, right? But we’ll make it through. There’ll be hard days and harder days and easier days – just like there always are. We’ll pull through! As long as we have books, and this community. Right? Right!
Anyway. Besides that, March had some other ups and downs as well. I got excited about a job application that fell through, then found an even better and more ‘me’ job application I applied on. I got the news my application was accepted so there’s that! No idea how and when the procedure will continue though, haha. Mental health-wise I’m struggling again. I was finally finding my way in life, combining work with Jamie and my bookish life when the whole world turned upside down. It’s taking its toll on me – no doubt about it. I’m trying to find as much selfcare-time as I can but it’s not easy with the little one around all the time.
Long story short? I’m happy I have this blog, this community and you because you help me in ways you don’t even know. So thank you. Thank. You.
Let’s dive into the reason you’re here instead of my mindless babbling. The haul!
As always, covers link back to the Goodreads-page!
SCRIBD BOOKS I IMMEDIATELY READ
[aka my monthly Scribd subscription]
These are the two books I listened to with my Scribd-subscription! I loved them both and reviews are to come your way soon! I hope…
Note: I adapt my purchase price for Scribd-books to my payment divided through the number of books I read through the app that month.
PRE-ORDER
The two big names released books and I had to get them both! Let’s ignore how I’m behind on Cassandra Clare’s books already. I don’t care. I’ll catch up eventually. And House of Earth and Blood? I’ve heard a-ma-zing things about it so I’m hoping to read it SOON.
GIFT [I won a giveaway!]
Being part of a street team has its perks, apparently? I didn’t even know there was a giveaway until the author contacted me to say I won, haha! I honestly didn’t know what book to pick at first, but decided to go with one I was keen on buying but hadn’t let myself yet. [Also, everything by Christina Lauren is so, so good.]
BOOK HOOKED BOX
This was the book I found in my bi-monthly Book Hooked Box! I absolutely love this box since there’s always a cookie [or multiple cookies] in there, and a hot chocolate stirrer on top of some other goodies. The book is also one I haven’t really heard of, which is a nice switch from FairyLoot’s books! Since those are mostly already “known” to me in some way.
CORONA-HAUL
I don’t know if the title of this part says it all – it probably does – but since a certain publisher put all their ebooks on sale this month, I went a little.. loose? To put it lightly.. I also bought one book – It Only Happens in the Movies by Holly Bourne – in this sale but I’m not putting it here since I already read a physical copy of it. I simply wanted to have it on my phone because it’s one of the few books I really want to reread at some point!
This month was obviously a “bad” one when it came to me buying books but.. Since I did get 7 more than last month and “only” paid €20 more in total, I’m.. okay? [Yeah, totally not. My other half has been side-eyeing me a lot since that ebook-splurge..]
Number of books bought: 22
Money spent on books in February: 75,78€
I am so sorry that you’re struggling with your mental health, Kathy. These times are especially rough and I hope that you continue to carve out time for yourself for self-care because it is really important. Congrats on the application being accepted, and I hope that you’ll be called in when all this blows over. I just hope April doesn’t last another 84 years. xoxo

It’s getting better. My other half and I had a good talk earlier this week where I told them I simply NEED time for myself or I’ll be going nuts. They still get to go to work; I don’t leave the house. It’s taking its toll but I’m starting to manage. And we had an online “drink” with the colleagues on Friday. Definitely gave a boost as well!
We’ll get through this; we have to. But.. like.. exactly.. not another 84 years or I’ll be going nutsbonkerscrazy whatever..

I feel you on the mental health issues. The year started out rough for me as it was, but it’s only gotten harder. Hang in there, we’ll make it through. Find as much you time as you can, even if it’s only 5 or 10 minutes at a time.
I’m laughing at your ebook splurge because I bought a new vacuum last night. It was on sale though, $150 off and it’s a nice one but… yeah. Probably should have waited. Oops. At least you have something fun now. 🙂

Ugh, I hope you’re okay and find the time and space for some you-time as well. It’s very much encouraged to simply demand and claim it. 🙂
Haha! At least my splurge revolved around books! Although I have to say we bought a new vacuum a month before everything went on lockdown so.. yeah.. wasn’t really the time either financially but you have to clean somehow?

Thanks, I appreciate that. And I’ve been doing my best to make more time for myself the last three months.
Right?! Exactly, but a vacuum (especially with a young one in the house) is a necessity! On the bright side, the one I had was 8 or 10 years old. It was time.
