I FAILED, BOO. ~ WWW: April 1st

WWW Wednesday

I was on a mission this past week and, it might be obvious I failed. I didn’t fail in a huge way, but nevertheless I’m kicking myself for it. Apart from that, yesterday was a huge.. well.. shit-day, to say the least. Work didn’t go like I expected it to – for some reason my concentration was non-existing. Then we heard the local bar we frequent and love and have been going to for years is up on the market to take over. Which is a huge bummer, considering we were actually going to go out there on our wedding day. Now that plan is out of the window as well and it sucks. But, the little bit of good news is that my application for a certain job got accepted! No idea yet how the application process will go from now on due to the virus, but.. it’s something!

Anyway. That was the life update-ish part. Now let’s get to the reading update.

As always, covers link back to the Goodreads-page, so feel free to check them out!

Current read

Sword in the Stars (Once & Future #2)

I started Sword in the Stars on Sunday since I cleared my entire current reads that day but I couldn’t go three days without reading so.. I messed it up by not finishing this book on time. I’m 50% through and loving it though!

Finished reading

The Opposite of Falling Apart10 Blind DatesFinale (Caraval, #3)

I finished the three books I had on my current reads last week, whoohoo! The Opposite of Falling Apart and Finale are definitely some of my favorites ever. Reviews will come! Don’t worry!

  1. Yay for your application being accepted, and huge bummer about the bar. That sucks.

Well…my first reads of April are Bonds of Brass by Emily Skrutskie, The Winter Duke by Claire Eliza Bartlett, City of Ashes by Cassandra Clare (re-read), and Manga Classics: Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte. It’s shaping up to be a great start to the month.

    1. Definitely sucks. With everything falling to pieces, I’m tempted to push our wedding to 2021. The only drop I need to make that decision is Australia / Belgium still having their borders closed come October. :’)

Oooh, I hope you’ve enjoyed all these by now! And if you haven’t sticked to them, hope you enjoyed the mood-reading. 😉

    2. We are pushing back our trip to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter for the honeymoon and instead hoping for a cabin getaway in the middle of nowhere. Hopefully the nearby State Park opens back up by October, because we love the hiking trails.

Good luck deciding if your wedding will be 2020 or 2021. We’re thinking about canceling the spiritual ceremony with all our friends and just doing a very small courthouse ceremony instead. We can have a vow renewal with the big wedding party and all that at some later time.

    3. I hope you get that getaway! It sounds lovely, to be honest. I’d jump on the opportunity to be somewhere remote surrounded by books (and a decent wifi connection so I can still work on the blog, haha).

Thanks. That definitely sounds like a plan as well! Thing is that we get 4 or 5 days off after our wedding and.. without those extra days, we can’t really pull off the honeymoon we want AND have some quality time with Jamie as well during the same year so it’s either wedding + honeymoon in one year or having to give up a separate holiday with Jamie. Something we’re not really keen on..

    4. Yeah, the cabins are equipped with WiFi, so that’s great. Also, private hot tubs. But, if I plan and prep right, I will only have one blog post to write during my honeymoon, and that’s my Weekly Wrap-Up post on Wednesday.

Ah, yeah, that makes sense. Well, I hope things settle down so we can both get our wedding and honeymoon situations straightened out. 🙂

    5. That sounds so freaking amazing right about now. I wouldn’t mind having blog prep to do when off to a remote cabin as long as I can do whatever I want, whenever I want, haha. [I think that impulsive side is the one suffering most since becoming a mom.]
Those weekly posts are definitely ones you can’t really plan ahead! I always try updating them throughout the week so I only have to make some minor adaptions / write my intro on Wednesday and be done with it.

Fingers crossed for both of us!

    6. It does sound pretty darn awesome and relaxing. I’m hoping that things settle down enough for us to have that chill outdoorsy honeymoon.

      Fingers crossed!

    1. Thank you! It’s a part-time at a library so I’m basically keeping all my fingers and toes crossed, haha.
The bar is a huge bummer, to be fair. We were going to have our wedding party there with all our friends (like, free venue, bartender we know, we could pick our own music – everything for free) and now it’s.. “how do we solve this?” Ugh.

As long as reading’s okay, life is! Most of the time. 😛

Hope you also had a good reading week. 🙂

    1. It happens. I guess it all feels ‘worse’ because there are so little positive things to focus on right now? The lockdown is killing me mentally, it seems. Oh well.

Caraval is SO GOOOOOD. I feel like the writing does.. maybe 75% of the amazingness already?
