A haul! It’s not like I have to keep myself accountable regarding my book buying but.. I have to keep myself accountable because I have no freaking self control and my 2019-numbers are.. the only proof I’ll ever need. So.. That’s the biggest motivation to bring these posts back – apart from the enjoyment in sharing my haul and showing you my weird book buying moods, that is..
I didn’t make a post in January, but I am totally willing to tell you all I bought 10 books for a total amount of 82,13€, which.. isn’t too bad? But let’s see whether I did better or worse in February!
Let’s do this!
As always, covers link back to the Goodreads-page!
SCRIBD BOOKS I IMMEDIATELY READ
[aka my monthly Scribd subscription]
Okay, so.. I have a Scribd-subscription and not afraid to use it obviously. I listened to two audiobooks and read one ebook. The ebook is simply one I actually own but sometimes I just don’t have the possibility to read a physical book and Scribd is my way to fix it?
Note: I adapt my purchase price for Scribd-books to my payment divided through the number of books I read through the app that month.
PRE-ORDER
I preordered this and immediately read it too!
GIFT [with a gift card from work!]
I got a gift card from work and.. I had just finished Wild Beauty at the time so my purchase makes a lot of sense. I had to have it. Had to.
TALIA HIBBERT-SPLURGE
Uhm, okay. This wasn’t exactly meant to happen but a very specific pink-haired person shared one of these books on Twitter since it was on sale and for some reason I bought a whole load of ebooks at that moment? All from Talia Hibbert? Her writing is amazing though. And the diversity in her books is as well! Just saying.
STORAGE SALE STANDAARD BOEKHANDEL
This is one of those special splurges I allow myself sometimes since Standaard Boekhandel had a storage sale and I just couldn’t pass it up. I only bought three books for myself – and six or so for Jamie – so I think I behaved?!
Number of books bought: 15
Money spent on books in February: 53,88€
Your haul looks pretty good to me! Umm…I bought 18 books in February, well, 19 if you count the book in my OwlCrate subscription. Oh wait, that’s just my physical haul. I also bought 4 audiobooks and 1 e-book, BUT I’ll say that all of those were on sale, so I didn’t really spend a lot on them.

Haha! The sub boxes definitely count as well! I had to cancel my FairyLoot sub due to financial reasons and it HURTS. I miss getting my monthly gift so much..
Sales are my enabler when it comes to buying books. I have to try and resist them but it’s.. hard..

I’ve had to cancel my OwlCrate a couple of times. It sucks. I hope you’re able to subscribe again in the future.
And yes, absolutely. Sales are the worst for those of us trying to resist buying all the books.

I’m planning on buying April’s box at least. I refuse to have an incomplete set of those “fake-books” they’re doing once every couple of months. :’)
Yuuuup. I really need to start saving up for the book convention in London in July. I’ll have to at least splurge THEN.

Ooh…book conventions are so fun. I hope you have a great time there.

I definitely will. My brother is going with me – although I’ll probably lose him to the actual comic con-part, but at least he already agreed to help me get my hands on some ARC’s too. 😛

It’s good to have extra hands to grab those ARCs, especially if ones you want drop at the same time on opposite sides of the show floor, lol.

That and YALC invoked a rule two years ago that simply “handing them out” isn’t allowed since it’s so stressful and unfair so now it’s often a case of “Here’s a box of papers; if you have THAT symbol, you get an ARC” – which I honestly find even more frustrating but oh well. 😛

Yuck, that is a bit frustrating.

Right? Although I do get why since some people are like animals when it comes to ARC’s.. But still. It’s SO frustrating when you desperately want a certain ARC and then “luck” decides.

I recently signed up for Scribd (like, still in my free trial stage recent) and am enjoying it! It’s definitely worth the money. Also, 15 books for that amount is pretty darn good.
Happy reading – a lot of those sound good!

Right?! Scribd is a lifesaver for me, to be honest. There are many books on there I own physical copies of but.. because they’re physical copies I don’t get around to reading them as quickly as I want to? Scribd helps!
Exactly! Although “15” does sound like way too many books but.. oh well, haha!
Thank you!

Agreed! And I have issues with my hands due to so many years of working a keyboard, so ebooks and audiobooks are so much easier than print.
Hahaha… shhh… never admit to ‘too many books’!
🙂

Oh, I can imagine that! I resorted to ebooks when Jamie was first born since he kept grabbing the pages and that was too much of a risk for my precious books. 😛
Eh, I’ve accepted it by now. There simply ARE too many books – in general, in the world, to be published and.. on my TBR shelves. 😛
