I read and loved both prequels of this book – The Cruel Prince and The Wicked King both tore me to pieces, as you can read in my review! I was and wasn’t ready for this trilogy to end at the same time, but I had a need to pick up The Queen of Nothing I couldn’t resist, so.. that’s exactly what I picked up not too long ago! Beware that this review has a high chance of containing spoilers for the prequels! Anyway, let’s dive into this.. mess..

The good

Because a mess it is. I was not prepared for the roller coaster The Queen of Nothing ended up being. After feeling stoked about being reunited with Jude, Oak, Vivi and all other characters, I quickly realized this book was not going to be easy on my heart.

It starts out relaxing enough, but before we know it Jude’s world is upside down again and she has to try and come out standing. Again. It’s like it never ends for her and I was truly on the edge of my seat, turning page after page after page to find out what would happen next and how it would happen and why and who and WHAT. If that doesn’t show you what a roller coaster it was, maybe you should imagine me screaming at some point due to a certain event that had me so torn and angry. The only thing that kept me from a social media-freak-out is knowing that it had to get better or certain other people would’ve poked me everywhere to give me a heads-up. I’m thankful I just kept on reading. Even more thankful I never got spoilers on my path before reading it because that might’ve ruined the fun a bit.

In any case! To make this review less of a rambling mess and more of a review:
Holly’s writing was spot-on once more, as I expected. I was drawn into the story and wasn’t let go throughout the entire thing. I loved the twists and turns, the evolution of all our characters and.. most of all I loved how things got wrapped up. I do hope she maybe sets more of her story in this world but.. as long as she gives us more fae, I can deal. She is and always will be the Queen of Fae, after all.

Come home and shout at me. Come home and fight with me. Come home and break my heart, if you must.

five stars
I don’t even know if this counts as a review, since it’s basically me summing up why I loved it and why you definitely should have read all three these books by now. If you haven’t, consider this your motivation to do so? Maybe? Hopefully?

What are some of your favorite fae books?
Or is there another creature you love more in books?
