It’s Wednesday and it can’t be weekend fast enough, if you ask me. The past couple of days have been something with Jamie’s first birthday, a birthday party and then more follow-up appointments after his meningitis. I can’t help but feel like I need a breather so I’m hoping the weekend will give me just that!
Also, more reading time. I definitely want more reading time. But who doesn’t, right?
Talking about reading time.. Let’s see how I did with it the past week!
As always, covers link back to the Goodreads-page, so feel free to check them out!
Okay, I’m still listening to Caraval but I’m close to finishing it! I think I have less than an hour left (at least if I keep listening on double the speed, haha), so I’m going to dive into Legendary after! I remembered bits and pieces of Caraval but the refresher was needed. I don’t remember a thing about Legendary though, so I really need to reread that one before finally picking up Finale!
I also started my eARC of Jane Fallon’s Queen Bee. I’m not that far in yet, so I’m still keeping my thoughts a secret. We’ll see how it goes! I remember loving her past books, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed to love this one as well.
As for my physical read, I’ve picked up my ARC of Yes No Maybe So. Again, not too far in yet but that’s mainly to my mood not being “contemporary”? We’ll see! Maybe I’ll have read it by next week, maybe I won’t!
I DNF’d Belle Révolte. I wrote a small “review” on it on Goodreads, so feel free to check that out. Better knews is how I finished Supernova and loooved it! It’s also my first “big book” of the year, it being over 500 pages. Whoop! I’m really hoping to tackle more of those big books in 2020.
I’m still sticking with the ARC’s! But I’m also going to pick up Legendary next for a reread.
How many books do you DNF each month?
What’s next on your TBR? What’s your current read?
What’s your most anticipated release of March?
TELL ME.
I’m not someone who frequently or even somewhat regularly DNFs books. Most years it seems like I might DNF one book…so I feel a bit weird that I’ve already DNFd two books this year. Maybe it’s that after over 30 years of life, with most of those being years that I’ve been obsessively reading, I’m pretty good at picking out books that I’ll like enough to read all the way through. That’s what I tell myself anyway.
Good luck with your re-reading and your ARC reading. It seems like you have some pretty good reads coming up, and I look forward to hearing your thoughts on them.

Ha, I hope for you that is the case! I just know I’m going more and more to a mood-reading way than I used to. I was all about the TBR’s before my pregnancy but after? Nope. Just picking up what I feel like reading. Also, with my reading time limited, I just can’t be arsed to force myself through a book anymore. I want my reading time / down time to be as relaxing as can be – which makes perfect sense with a toddler running rampant. 😛
Thank you! I’m hoping to love them all, especially the ARCs since there are some I’ve been looking forward to.

Yeah, this month I’ve mostly failed at my Fantastic February TBR. I had 19 books on it and so far I’ve only read like…3 of them? I have read 14 books this month though, and only 2 of them weren’t fantasy, so I’m still doing okay there. I just put a bunch of books on my TBR that I’ve wanted to read for a while and I just haven’t been wanting to pick them up when it’s time to start a new book. So yeah, I’m kind of in a mood reading phase right now.

Oh well! Like I mention in all those challenge-posts, even reading one is already a job well done when it comes to my challenges. Nothing wrong with a mood reading-phase either. I’ve been in that mood for months now and I’m just going with it. It’s liberating to not pressure myself with TBR’s lately, haha.

My problem most of the time with trying to forego a TBR and just mood read is that my mood is typically “read all the books” and so I pick up like 12 books at once, read like half of each book, and then pick up more books. Without the guidance of a TBR it’s like I am much less effective at completing books. Lol. But I understand the freeing feeling of just going along with the moods with no expectations for what to read when. It can be quite nice.

I missed that Jamie had meningitis – poor little guy! Hope he is recovering ok. That must have been pretty scary!
I have only ever read one Jane Fallon book and was not too crazy about it, but I hope you are enjoying this one!

Yeah, he had in October. He’s been doing absolutely fine since! All the tests we’ve had so far were as good as can be and we aren’t noticing anything out of the ordinary but it definitely was scary. Those first two days, when looking back at them, he really was on the brink of death and I’m so happy he pulled through.
I can definitely see her books not being for everyone! It’s taking me a longer time to get into Queen Bee, to be honest. Feels like there’s a lot of unnecessary describing / events before getting to the point. Maybe her other books are like that as well, but it hasn’t bothered me until now?

DNFing is something I’ve been working on, I can’t DNF books easily yet but I wanna get into the practice of doing so, there are too many amazing books in the world and I don’t wanna waste time reading ones I don’t think I’ll enjoy

Right? I started two years ago by setting myself the 100 pages-goal. If I reached that point and still didn’t enjoy it, I was “allowed” to toss it aside and not go back to it. Seems like 2020 is the year I don’t even need that “goal” before deciding to stop reading, haha. It’s a process! Especially since – at least I had that issue – guilt tends to eat at us when we’re thinking about not finishing a book.

That’s so true, I have set myself a goal of 50% I’m trying to ease myself into DNFing and the half way mark is a good place to start
