Five books. Five very different stories.

I read them all and was contemplating whether or not to review them separately or in one go. I ended up deciding on the latter. Why? Because some books I care about a lot, and others? Well, not so much. At all.

Basically my conclusion is this series is okay. I loved certain characters, especially Seth. A loving, woman-respecting guy with tattoos and piercings. What’s not to love, right? Exactly. I was done for the moment I met him and have been since. I kept looking for him in all the books, which ended up disappointing me at times.

Other characters I wasn’t that keen of, but that’s to be expected. You can’t like everyone, not in real life, not in books. Wicked Lovely is proof of that. One of those characters redeemed themselves in the final book and.. let’s say I realized I should’ve appreciated them more, maybe. Maybe. On the other hand, my dislike of said character also gave me all the emotions while reading and that’s a plus, right?

As far as story goes.. Each book has its own story and that’s why I didn’t overly like the third and fourth book. I simply wasn’t very invested, or things happened I didn’t agree with. Like a certain female trying to sleep with someone in order to find out whether they could be “something more”. No. Just no.
Apart from those two books, I really liked the series as a whole because..

That ending! The final book! Melissa Marr proves how she can weave everything together, build suspense, redeem certain characters and.. well.. end with a bang?

I don’t really know what else to say more about this.

Due to the changing perspectives, introductions of new characters each book.. I’d say it’s very normal to like one book, dislike the next and then love the one after that again. Wicked Lovely is worth reading, you simply have to go in knowing there’s a chance you’ll dislike at least one book and.. maybe have faith the final book will be more than worth it!

After saying all that, I’d still give the entire series, as a whole, four cupcakes because I did enjoy reading and I went through them fast. I clicked with certain characters, felt with them and.. that’s what I think is most important when reading anyways. Also fae. I’ll always and forever be a sucker for fae.
