I’m a little late, but it’s entirely my own fault! I usually edit my wrap-up throughout the month, which saves me a lot of time when I actually have to post it. But guess who didn’t do that at all during March? Right. Me!
Anyway, it’s here now! I read more than I expected to and.. I kind of, sort of stuck to my book buying rules?
So, let’s see how March went!
As always, covers link back to the Goodreads-page!

When the Tik-Tik Sings by Doug Lamoreux ~ ★★★
The Dark Descent of Elizabeth Frankenstein by Kiersten White ~ RTC
I read two books that fit the monstrous theme I was going with, which isn’t too bad considering it isn’t my usual genre at all. I quite liked The Dark Descent of Elizabeth Frankenstein, but When the Tik-Tik Sings was a bit of a disappointment for me. Too many characters, too many details and too many terms I wasn’t familiar with – that about wraps it up, haha.
OTHER BOOKS ON MY OWNED TBR I READ
Hold Me Close #7 by J.H. Croix ~ ★★★
This was actually my first read for the Magical Readathon that’s going on in April! Since I could start my Charms book four days early, I decided to go with this eBook. Quite enjoyed it, but.. not overly so.
ARC’S I READ
Internment by Samira Ahmed ~ ★★★★☆
Once & Future by Amy Rose Capetta and Cori McCarthy ~ ★★★★
I read two ARC’s! Which means I only have three left on my TBR, yay! Both of these were so good though. Internment has a strong message, definitely one I’d recommend to fans of THUG and Dear Martin. Once & Future is easily one of my favorite retellings now. Both because of all the queerness – seriously, check out my review! – and because it’s science fiction I.. love? Which is new still. So far only The Illuminae Files got me to use the word “love”, haha.
KINDLE BOOKS I READ
The Prep and the Punk by Imogene Kash ~ ★★★★☆
SUMMARY
Total number of books read: 6
Average rating: 3.8
BOUGHT SECONDHAND
NO RULES-BOOKS
Look at me going! Admittedly, I couldn’t resist the secondhand books but those are two series I read in Dutch years ago and I really want to reread them in English at some point so.. yeah.. My Lady’s Choosing and You’re Welcome, Universe are two books I actually ordered in February, but they only arrived in March! And my FairyLoot only arrived yesterday so I couldn’t include those books in my wrap-up, haha.
I read half of what I read in February and I’m actually quite freaking pleased with that! I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to read at all, but I’ve been managing fine so far – yay!
I’ve just received a copy of Once and Future so I’m really pleased to see you liked it! I can’t wait to dig into it.

Second-hand books should always get a free pass. 😉 Especially if you have already read them anyway haha.

Haha, true! Although I tend to count books I read in Dutch as unread ones in English? It simply isn’t the same as reading them in their original language.. 😛

I hope you’ve been well and that your little family’s well, too, Kathy ❤
I'm so curious to hear your thoughts about You're Welcome, Universe! I read it a couple months ago and if I liked the story, somehow the character didn't quite… click with me as much as I would have liked to. BUT YAY for deaf rep, too 🙂
Happy reading ❤

We are, thank you! Hope you’re well too, Marie. ❤
The deaf rep is exactly what made me want to get my hands on a copy of You're Welcome, Universe so we'll see how it goes when it comes to everything else in the book, haha.
You too!

So, I unintentionally participated in Monstrous March as I read the Monsters of Verity Duology and then the Villains Duology.
