Wrap-up & Book Haul: JANUARY [Jam Jar]

Wrap-up

I’ve been at home for three days now and.. I honestly thought I’d love being on pregnancy leave. Of course life has to disappoint me and make sure that isn’t the case at all. So far. Not being able to do anything, not being allowed to do other things.. It’s driving me absolutely bonkers, people! I’m hoping to get used to this soon because.. I haven’t been the friendliest person to be around lately. So sorry, boyfriend. Still love you though.

In any case – January’s over and done with. Which means it’s not even two weeks before the little one arrives and cue the freak-out! So much stuff left to do! But.. First things first.. Wrapping up January!
Because that’s obviously the most important thing to be doing right now, haha.

So, let’s see what I read and reviewed – and what reviews are yet to come your way!

As always, covers link back to the Goodreads-page!
The star-ratings link back to my reviews if I’ve posted them or added one on Goodreads!

I started and finished four books from my jar! I did pick out Escaping From Houdini as well, but haven’t finished that one yet. I’m hoping to finish it this weekend but.. who knows.. I haven’t really been up to reading physical books lately? Oh, and I got a Nintendo Switch earlier this week so that one’s been tempting me as well..

Like I said, I’ve been reading a fair share of my Kindle books this month. There were some good ones and bad ones but.. overall I’m quite happy with the free books I hauled last year?

Look at that! I’m actually proud of myself, hah. I set myself some book buying rules, so my hauls should be fairly.. small from now on. Fingers crossed, right?

I have read more than I thought I would this month. With my goal at 75 books for 2019, I’d say 13 is a brilliant way to start! Who knows what’ll happen though.. I might not make it after all, haha.
In any case, I’m proud of what I read and proud of my small-ish haul. That’s what counts.

How was your January? Did you read many books?
Got a good start on your 2019 reading challenges?
Is there a review of mine you’re really looking forward to reading in February?

    1. Haha, so many people are! The one thing my boyfriend and I are most curious about lately is simply how hairy he’ll be when he’s born? But that’s solely because we keep joking that with us having so much hair ourselves, it HAS to be a little, tiny bear. 😛

  1. You got a Nintendo Switch? Does that mean someone finally stepped up and got you a non-baby related gift, or did you have to go and take care of that need for yourself?

Two copies of The Wicked King! Let me guess, you’re going to jump from one version to the other every chapter XD I love the subscription box cover.

    1. I pretty much blackmailed / smart-assed the boyfriend into getting me one? xD I hadn’t brought it up for a while, and then we were in the store where he was planning on buying some new xbox games. Caught me staring at the Switch and had the balls to go “But, with the baby almost here, it’s not like you’d have time for that?” and I simply eyed his games and went “then you’re so NOT buying those either cause I’m not being the only parent” and walked off. He ended buying the games and the Switch. xD [I’m so evil.]

Uuuuh. There’s a third copy on its way. I just have to have them ALL! I also have all three editions of The Cruel Prince so it was mandatory, okay. xD

    2. ahhhhhhhhh he asked for that one. How can he go to buy some games and act like you won’t have time for games of your own, no way nuh uh. I support this kind of evil. RELISH IN THAT SWITCH KATHY. You deserve it!!!

      Hahahaha yes! Mandatory! I agree!

  2. Oooh, exciting times for you! 🙂 ❤ I'm always dreaming of being on maternity leave, but i'm pretty sure it's not how i imagine it, haha 😀

Gilded Wolves sounds cool, have that one on my list – hopefully for this year.

    1. It definitely isn’t. It’s FRUSTRATING. But at least now I have a world of time to do blogging stuff – for now anyways. 😛

Hope you enjoy it should you read it! Not something I’d usually pick up because of the historical side, but I did enjoy it plenty after all.

  3. You had an awesome month! I managed ONE book off my Jam Jar list. *sigh*

Oh, and it always seems like a good idea to be off work but… when you’ve been working for years, have the same routine, know what needs to be done next… being home with no schedule, no demands can make you feel a little (or a lot) off. I dread long weekends for this reason. I’m always so lost on that Monday holiday!

    1. Hey, one book is still a success in my book! I’m actually shocked I managed to read four from the jar and start a fifth one. Not something I anticipated.

Ha, that’s definitely true. Although this time it’s more a case of “there’s so much to do and I’m not allowed to do anything because I need to relax and chill and not stress” and it’s.. annoying the hell out of me. So I’m pretty much focusing on my blog for the time being, haha. At least that’s something I can still do!
