Wrap-up & Book Haul: [Diverse] DECEMBER

I’ve been busy trying to catch up on everything. From my blog to work to chores to baby-related stuff to reading to Goodreads.. And that’s not even mentioning social media! I’ve no clue how I’ll be getting on top of things again. I might even be considering just giving up already since we all know it’ll be doomed in about a month or so anyway, haha.
Anyway! 2018 is over and done with, which means Diverse December is as well and that asks for a wrap-up. Reading-wise and haul-wise. Let me tell you, the latter part is.. huge.. I might’ve done a small Christmas splurge. Just a small one. Tiny really. Hear the sarcasm? IT’S HUGE.

So let’s just dive into it and.. prepare yourself for my haul of shame, haha.

As always, covers link back to the Goodreads-page! The star-ratings link back to my reviews if I’ve posted them or added one on Goodreads!

I read plenty of diverse books during December, yay me! Admittedly, there were some very short ones too but still. They count. Because I say so. I’ve yet to write my reviews / make up my mind about The Earth, My Butt and Other Big Round Things and Girl Hearts Girl, so those ratings are.. missing for now. I simply haven’t had time to gather my thoughts yet. Let alone write a decent review on Nevernight.. I just can’t.

Look at me trying to hide anywhere at this point. This is a whole MOUNTAIN of books and I do realize that.. Thing is we – yes, my boyfriend and I – agreed I was allowed one last, final, huge splurge before the little wiggle / little meatball / little spaghetti is born and.. I did just that? It did count as the boyfriend’s Christmas gift to me as well though! So.. there’s that? Not to mention I got some awesome books from awesome people – shout-out to Destiny and Chelscey in particular!

I haven’t read a lot yet this last week, which you can read about in yesterday’s reading update, but I’ve been slowly getting into the mood again. The Gilded Wolves is shouting my name and I can’t wait to read more of it once I get home from work! Not to mention how my January Jam Jar books are shouting my name even louder – I cannot wait to dive into those jar-books!

How was your December? What was your favorite read?
Have you set any 2019 reading goals or are you going to take things as they come?
What’s a book from my haul you feel I should read RIGHT NOW?

  1. Let’s Pretend This Never Happened is hilarious. We also have Queen of Air and Darkness in common. Though I haven’t read it yet,

    1. I wouldn’t expect anything less! I read Furiously Happy and remember laughing a whole lot as well, hah.
I haven’t read it yet either! I’ll probably wait until I’ve reread all Shadowhunter books before reading it, to be honest.

  2. WOW now that’s a book haul haha, I’m spotting so many amazing books! I loved A Thousand Perfect Notes and hope you will, too 🙂 Am I Normal yet was such a brilliant read as well, I adored it 🙂

    1. I knoooow. I actually have people messaging me I’m crazy and should buy useful things / spend my money more wisely and I’m here like.. “Why are you guys making me feel guilty?!” Ugh.
I’m having such high hopes for A Thousand Perfect Notes but that’s probably because.. well.. I think everyone has / had when it came to that book, no? 😛
      Thank you! ❤

    2. What? Seriously? Ugh. No one should EVER make you feel guilty, if you can treat yourself, YOU SHOULD ❤
I can't wait to hear your thoughts on that one 🙂
OH AND THANK YOU! I got your Christmas card just today, thank you SO much that made me tear up a little bit ❤

    1. Ha, that’s definitely true! Although people have been telling me I’ll start hating physical books since they won’t be easy to read with a baby “glued to my person” or something? We’ll see! 😛

    1. I really enjoyed it! Didn’t necessarily have issues with it – except for the predictability of the plot but I was too invested in the characters to let it bother me all that much?
I’m going to check out those goals of yours!

Happy 2019 to you as well! 🙂

    1. The Poet X is verrryyy tempting to be honest! I’m still seeing it pop up everywhere saying how amazingly good it is. Same for Circe and Song of Achilles actually.. Ugh. Sometimes I just don’t know where to start. :’)

    2. You could have The Poet X finished in one sitting if there are no distractions, around you. I would read Song of Achilles before you read Circe.

    3. Haha, I have a constant distraction right inside of me since the baby can’t stop kicking and moving all over the place. And with the remodeling at our house, there’s no peace and quiet either so we’ll see!
      Good to know!

  3. Wow, what a productive month you had! I’m so curious about A Holiday by Gaslight, it sounds so lovely. I’m SO glad you liked The Girl King, I’ve been hearing a bit about it and I’m so excited!! Also omg, you didn’t like Macbeth! It’s my favorite Shakespeare play. Tell me everything 😀

    1. Ooh, it’s such a cozy read! I never EVER buy ebooks – first time I did and I’m even more happy it didn’t disappoint because of that, haha.
Ugh, Macbeth.. I just.. I truly believe I’m the problem in this case because those classics – especially the language used – flies way over my head at times? I’m not giving up on them though. I’m set on finding at least ONE classic I can truly enjoy haha. :’)

    2. I totally understand that – Shakespeare is a very unique read… and don’t give up, surely there is a classic out there for you 😀

  4. You got SO MANY AMAZING books! Well done, you! I stalled out in reading during December, sadly, but I was able to spend a lot of time with family, so that was worth it. I actually didn’t go crazy with buying books this year because I still have so many from my last year’s splurge lol. Looking forward to reading what you think about all these new books!

    1. Thank you!!
Hah, I shied away from family gatherings this time around. Pregnant me simply doesn’t have the energy for socializing all the time during the holidays so I used that to my advantage when accepting / declining invitations. :’)
Ha, I too have plenty of books left from previous years but I couldn’t resist the one final splurge. Starting in February, most of our lives will revolve around the baby so I figured I was allowed one last enormous book haul. 😛
Let’s hope I actually find the time to read them all!

    1. Hahaha, I know right? I honestly felt.. nuts ordering that many books [mostly gifts from the BF since he said “just buy whatever one last time” and.. well..] but that was nothing compared to the feeling I got whenever books arrived in the mail, hahaha!
      Thank you! ❤
