I’m so, so tired. The little one has been waking me up in the middle of the night for a couple of days again. I was hoping he got over it but apparently not. Last night? Woke up at 1 am, only managed to fall back asleep by 3 am. I’m going zombie-mode today for sure, but I’ll survive. At least I have you guys, and books. I really do feel like reading and reading some more. Can someone get me a clone so I can do just that while my clone goes to work in my stead? I’d be forever grateful!
Anyway, let’s see how my sleep deprivation affected my reading…
As always, covers link back to the Goodreads-page, so feel free to check them out!
I have only one current read right now, yay! Mostly because I finished The Upside of Unrequited at 3 am, otherwise that one would’ve been on here as well, haha.
I This might look like an insane amount of books, but.. Let’s put it in perspective by mentioning how Okami and Yumi are 21 pages total. Witchcraft and Monsters is a poetry collection consisting of 50+ pages and Mann Cakes and A Christmas Carol aren’t that big either. So..
Apart from that though – CAN I JUST SHOUT ABOUT HOW AMAZINGLY AWESOME THE UPSIDE OF UNREQUITED IS? I AM IN LOVE WITH THAT BOOK. Becky Albertalli was close to being one of my auto-buy authors but now it is a simple fact.
Well.. This is where you guys come in – if you see this post in time that is. I feel like finally reading something by Jay Kristoff, but I can either go with Nevernight or Lifel1k3 since I have both on my shelf right now – instead of in boxes, hah. I simply can’t make up my mind though. Which is why I started a poll on Twitter – so head on over there and vote!
I’m making my way through them! Yay me! No clue which one of these I’ll pick up next though. Looking at the release dates, it’s either The Gilded Wolves or All the Lonely People.
He’s just preparing you for those first few months. 😉 I hope you’ve been sleeping a bit better now. I hated when the braxton-hicks would start in the middle of the night.

It’s been somewhat better. I do notice I simply need.. more naps and that’s mighty impossible during the week, haha.
Haven’t had those yet as far as I know of. But I guess I’d notice it if I had. 😛

Hey, that is still a really good week of reading. Good job! I’m having a good week/month/year myself. So I’m looking forward to seeing exactly how far I get before the end of 2018.

Thank you!
That’s awesome. I think we’re all curious to see where we’ll be at by the end of the year, hah.

This is true. I have super ambitious reading plans for December.

Nothing wrong with that!

Nope, but I do seem to keep adding books to my TBR stack as if I’m magically going to be able to read that much with all the family holiday obligations coming up.

Haha, one can only hope. I have the same thing though. We were going to move in January at first, but decided to move next Monday instead and I’m still failing at packing up my books because “I might just read them this week!” As if I could ever read a stack of 350-page books in a week..

Bookworm problems, haha. Good luck getting everything packed up and ready for the move. My fiance and I are talking about trying to get a house in 2019.

Thank you! I’m awfully glad I did most of the packing a couple of months ago when I was still able to do things like that myself, hah.
Oooh, exciting times ahead! [and frustrating.. and tiring.. But it’s fun as well. 🙂 ]

I’m already thinking that we should just hire movers. The thought of having to pick up and transport all of my boxes of books is pretty much overwhelming, lol.

Haha, that’s definitely a sound plan. We’re not doing that, but that’s thanks to our siblings helping tons with the actual moving and driving our stuff around. 🙂 Otherwise it would’ve definitely be movers for us as well!

Hope the Jane Fallon book is good 🙂 I’m planning to read that too at some point.

I enjoyed it! I did figure it out way before I was *meant* to, but I think that has to do with having read multiple of her books already. 🙂

I always love rereading A Christmas Carol around this time of year, it’s such a classic book. I’ve got Wildcard out of the library. How did you find it?
LikeLiked by 1 person
Classics really aren’t my thing. I liked the overall story, but the writing itself was.. so hard to get through..
I liked it! Flew through it too, but that’s a common thing I have with Marie Lu’s books. They’re so fast-paced. Some twists were pretty predictable though, but still enjoyed it plenty. Hope you will as well. 🙂

I found Warcross was very predictable but very fast and enjoyable so here’s hoping I feel the same about Wildcard!

I’ve been wanting to read more of Jay Kristoff since I read the Illuminae Files but I keep not getting the books for some reason.

I have the books, I simply keep postponing on reading them. I’m hoping to start Nevernight tonight though. 🙂 Finally!

I can’t wait to read your thoughts on them. I have almost gotten his other books but I always talk myself out of getting them. Probably because they are so expensive. I will eventually get them though.

The writing is definitely different than Illuminae, that’s for sure! Took me a while to get used to Kristoff’s own writing. It probably also has a lot to do with the “normal format” compared to TIF, but I’m really enjoying it so far! Only 50 pages in and I’ve snorted more times than I can count, hah. 🙂
I’m already considering replacing my paperbacks with hardbacks – something I usually do with books I end up loving – so that’s a good sign.

Yeah it’s definitely going to be a different experience but hopefully I will get to them sooner rather than later. Yeah that’s a good sign if you’re already considering it after only 50 pages.

Ah! So sorry to hear about your sleepless night, love! Hoping you manage to find some time for a well-deserved nap today! Haha. 💕
I’ve only read Lifel1k3 but Jay Kristoff and really enjoyed it! It wasn’t perfect, but definitely a fun read! And I REALLY want to read the Upside of Unrequited!

Naps are pretty much impossible on work days but I’m pretty much scheduling a LOT of naps over the weekend. 😛
Well, the poll ended with Nevernight being my next read so.. Lifel1k3 will have to wait a bit longer!
YOU SHOULD IT’S AMAZING I LOVE IT SO MUCH

I hope you’ll be able to rest some more today and the upcoming days, Kathy, take care of yourself! ❤
You read SO many books ahhh that's awesome! How was Wildcard? I can't wait to read that one. I'm also eager for you to read The Gilded Wolves, I'm reading it right now and really, really loving it so far! 🙂

I hope so as well but it seems already like life has other plans, haha. As usual. 😀
It looks like a lot but there are some tiny novellas on there as well! I really liked Wildcard – flew through it really. Some things were predictable but still loved it. 😀
I was GOING to pick it up but then I felt more like reading Jane Fallon’s new release so.. yeah.. Oops. 😛

Liked it! I really flew through that one, haha. Saw some things coming, other things not and.. well.. I enjoyed reading it plenty 😀
Good to know! I’ve been hearing great things about it! Hopefully I’ll be able to pick it up soon-ish.

Wildcard is on my list of books to read (which is too long). I play World of Warcraft and I heard that it is similar to it. Hopefully you get to it soon. You’ll love it.

I never played WoW but heard about the game plenty. Personally I wouldn’t really say it’s similar but I guess people who know WoW better could feel differently about that, haha.
Hoping to maybe read it next week!

I always forget how busy December is and I end up reading a lot less than I want. But oh well! I voted for Nevernight because I loved it, and I’ve heard that some readers didn’t like LIF3L1KE (but I haven’t read it yet)

Shorter books are definitely a good help with that though!
Ooh, seriously? I’ve adamantly stayed clear of Lifelike’s reviews in case of spoilers so I had nooo clue about that. Yikes! Thanks for voting! ❤

I’m currently reading Sisters of the Winter Wood and its pretty good! I’m also soon-to-start buddy reads for The Bear and the Nightengale and A Christmas Carol. Holidays usually amp me up for reading! I love holiday reads! Plus its the end of the year so I gotta get that Goodreads goal! 😛

Awesome! I read A Christmas Carol over the weekend, but honestly.. I’m simply not a classics-person, haha. I just can’t lose myself in writing that feels.. old.. 😦
Yes! Goodreads-goal! I already met mine, but I’m rooting for anyone who hasn’t yet! [I’m hosting the Short-a-thon at the end of the year, which might be interesting to you on that account. 😉 Image / link is in my sidebar!]

Woo, Witchcraft and Monsters has a nice cover! And congrats on reading! 😀 I can’t wait for short-a-thon, I hope I can read a lot for it because my owned TBR went over 400 again…

Right?! It’s why I wanted to pick it up in the first place, haha!
Oooh, yikes. That’s a lot! I managed to get it under 200 but then I bought a whole lot of books and now it’s over 200 again, haha. We’ll see how it goes! 😀

Good luck to both of us! I don’t know why I do this to myself 😀 thankfully MANY of these are under 250 pages, but that’s difficult to see when a number over 400 is staring you in the face.

Hahaha. Well, I hope you kept track of them on Goodreads or something. That way you’ll easily make your way through the thinnest ones I reckon! 😀

I just checked on GR and almost 200 of them are under 250 pages (the 200th was 260-something). So maybe I should just start from the bottom and go from there… 😀 but I think having your themed monthly challenges will help a lot next year! I already divided my physical TBR into genres.

Oooh, sounds like you should be able to tick off a lot of them if you tackle them like that!
Hah, that’s true commitment. I haven’t done that YET but I do plan on it as soon as all my books are unpacked – which might take a couple of months still but whatever. 😛
