TTT: Being thankful is not that hard!

Top Ten Tuesday

I don’t celebrate Thanksgiving at all. It isn’t even all that known in Belgium, as far as I know. We mostly hear about it through television and social media but.. that’s about it? I wish we celebrated it over here though. A holiday to be thankful on? To actually show your gratitude? I really think we could all benefit from that. We can wish it was “ordinary” all we want, but showing gratitude – real gratitude – isn’t all that common at all..

This is exactly why I want to use today’s TTT to talk about things, people, events I’m thankful for. This might become a huge post, but I hope you’ll enjoy reading it anyway!

TTT general

Today’s TTT is “A Thanksgiving / Thankful Freebie” and I’m using it to talk about “Things, People and Events I’m thankful for“!

Afbeelding kan het volgende bevatten: 2 mensen, lachende mensen, close-up en buitenI do feel like I need to start with the one thing that’s most important in my life right now and that’s everything to do with my boyfriend. He isn’t even going to read this, but that doesn’t matter! We’ve been together for two and a half years now and we’ve both come such a long way.
He was pretty much living his second puberty when we first got together and things were changing a whole lot in my life at that point as well – having just had a gastric bypass surgery. Not even six months in, we moved in together because.. well, he wanted to move out on his own, but so did I. It seemed silly to not just take the plunge and do it together. People said we were crazy and that it wouldn’t work out but.. guess what? We just bought a house, I’m six months pregnant and we’re happier than we were before!

Being pregnant hasn’t been all rainbows and butterflies though. A lot of things happened during my pregnancy that weren’t all that great – some of you know the details about this, so I won’t repeat it all. It was a harsh time for all of us, that’s for sure. I can only say I’m ridiculously thankful it all turned out okay. Now we can focus on our future home and getting everything ready for the little wiggle to arrive!

Family Isn't Always Blood ..., Wall Decal, Vinyl, Sticker, Black by LOVEdecalWhen it comes to other things in my personal life, outside the blog, it’s not hard to guess I need to mention my family, friends and job as well.
My mom and brother have been amazing this past year – the latter even more than I expected him to be. With an age gap of four years, we didn’t always get along that well but.. it finally looks like we’re both past that!
Then there’s my boyfriend’s brother and sister-in-law. I got to know both of them so much better over these last couple of months. I’ve never had much luck when it came to ex-boyfriends’ family, but it is entirely different this time around! They’ve been a huge support lately and.. well.. that means a whole lot to me. [and to the boyfriend, I’m sure.]
As for friends.. I can easily tell you guys I absolutely see some of you as real life friends more than just blogging friends. The conversations I’ve had are some I haven’t even had with people I know in person and that’s saying something. I know it’s simply because I connect with some of you on a deeper level than I do with people in my “real life”. Not going to name any since they know perfectly well I’m talking about them.

But of course I’m thankful for each and every one of you! You’re what makes blogging fun. Talking with you, replying to your comments and commenting on your blogs are definitely highlights in my daily life and I wouldn’t have it differently for the world. Not only is this blog a creative outlet, it’s also a way to share a passion I never really talked about before. I was a closeted bookworm and I’m so happy that changedAlthough, I have to admit.. my boyfriend and bank account might be less happy about that particular thing..

As for events.. Let’s just name a couple I’ve been thankful for most in these past two years!
~ The road trip through the South of Europe I got to do last year.
~ Being able to attend YALC before my life was turned upside down. [Hi, pregnancy!]
~ Some amazing nights out with friends! [I still can’t handle the smell of Jägermeister..]
~ Feeling like a part of Queen by watching Bohemian Rhapsody.
~ Having random, impulsive dates with the boyfriend.
~ Those random talks / rants with special people who brightened my darker days.

Creating this post honestly reminded me of how little we show gratitude towards the people in our lives. Sure, we do things for them and we help whenever we can but.. Do they know what they do for us actually means something and gets noticed? It’s a fact we tend to take a lot of things for granted so.. maybe we should try to show them our gratitude in more pronounced ways?

What are ways you show your family and friends you’re grateful for them?
What are some things you’re thankful for?
What’s the best way someone showed YOU they’re grateful for the things you do?

Feel free to leave a link to your TTT so I can check it out!

    1. Aawh, thank you! ❤ We should definitely talk about those things more often. Especially since I now notice how many people feel just that little bit better by reading about.. other people's life going well? Who knew it'd be so easy sometimes. 🙂
      You too! ❤

    1. Haha, thank you!! ❤ Six months along now so it isn't THAT long anymore – yikes.
Exactly! I also feel like it's.. simply a hard thing to do? You can give gifts and such but they never convey actually HOW grateful you are and all. :')

    1. Aawh, thank you so much!! ❤ Made me tear up and made this day so much better, Marie!
It's been a tiring week with everything changing so much right now and having to invest a lot of time and energy in getting the house ready so your message definitely means a lot right now. ❤

    3. I am! I get to do absolutely NOTHING the entire afternoon [which will probably equal blog prep and more blog prep but at least no household chores, haha] and he promised to pick up more things I usually do so.. we’ll see how it goes. 😀
