SHORT-A-THON 2018 – DECEMBER 21-31

shortathonbannerattempt1

A while back, I made a post consisting of the shortest and longest books on my TBR. A couple of months after that, Destiny @ Howling Libraries posted her shortest books on the TBR and it got both of us thinking. What about a read-a-thon focusing solely on the shortest books we own? Even better! What about doing this in a period where many of us struggle to find reading time? [aka at the end of the year!] And if you need even more of a reason to join in.. Think of how you’ll be able to up your number of books read this year by focusing on those short ones for a little while!

Put all that together.. And the Short-A-Thon is here! Co-hosted by Destiny and myself!
Definitely go check out her post as well, while you’re at it!

Want to participate? Here’s all the info regarding the first ever Short-A-Thon:

General info
◊ All about reading the shortest books on your TBR.
◊ Starts at 12.00 AM, your own timezone, on December 21st.
◊ Ends at 11.59 PM, your own timezone, on December 31st.

To do for you
◊ Create a blog post / tweet / something where you list the ten – or more – shortest books on your TBR. You can also just leave a comment with your TBR. Like – I’m simply curious to see what your shortest books are, really.
◊ Make sure you leave a comment with the link so I can add you to my list of participants!
◊ If you’re sharing any updates on social media, use #shortathon18 so we can follow up on one another!
◊ Feel like joining us in some sprints and other fun talk? Go and follow our Twitter, @shortathon!

Important
Remember, it doesn’t matter how much you read or how many books you tick off as long as you have fun reading and maybe get to know some people in the meanwhile, hah!
And as long as we can tackle our TBR’s, bit by bit, page by page, book by book.

  1. I started pulling books off the shelf that I would like to read in December, and I realized that a good number of them are short-ish…so while they may not be the actual shortest books that exist on my TBR, I think I’ll still count them and join in on this readathon, lol. I mean, unless I end up reading them before the readathon. It is hard for me to plan TBRs sometimes.

    1. Haha, those’d definitely count as well! Most of the books on my TBR are at least 300 pages, so I’m counting the ones with 200-ish pages as “short” for the shortathon. 🙂
Oh well, there’s always some short reads you could start during the readathon itself! As long as you’re enjoying the books, all is good.

  2. AWESOME! I actually did this exactly last year in December when I just… read like 15 short stories on my TBR to reach my goal. And then I did it a few times since then. But it will be fun to do it with other people this time 😀 I’m definitely participating, so I’ll link my TBR here when I post it (or just tag you).

    1. Hahaha! That’s exactly why we thought it’d be a good idea as well. We all want to reach our reading goal before the year’s over so focusing on shorter books is simply the smart move. 😂
Awesome! 😀 Looking forward to it!

    2. I already drafted and scheduled my TBR, and wow, I have way too many “short” books! I only listed the ones under 150 pages because there’s over 40 of those, but there are still 50+ that are between 150 and 250… 😀

    3. Oh my! That’s.. a lot.. And awesome at the same time! I really don’t have THAT many short books. Pretty sure my stack of short reads for the shortathon already has books on it with over 250 pages, to be honest. :’)

    4. Aww 😀 I guess it’s different for everyone. It was just strange because I would consider books under 250 to be short, but I didn’t get past 150 on my TBR because there’s no point in listing more than 50 books 😀

But you said your TBR is mostly physical, so I guess that’s why!

    5. Yeah, that’s not likely to happen 😀 although I’m thinking of dedicating the entire month to reading short reads, but even then I doubt I’ll reach 50.

    1. Oh wow, I’m going to have to pick that up if everyone loved the series so much. I haven’t actually read short books in a long time, even when I’m busy, so I love this challenge and I’m pumped to do it!
