At least, looking at the title of this week’s TTT, I definitely hope everyone at least has some favorites to share today. Just imagine not having read anything favorite-worthy in the past six months?! Safe to say I’m happy to share some amazing books and I’m convinced I’ll read more during the rest of 2018. But for now… Let’s take a look at the additions to my favorites-shelf!
Today’s topic is “Best Books I’ve Read in 2018 (So Far)” and for once I’m actually sticking to the topic!
All covers link back to Goodreads if you feel like checking them out!
As I was going into this post, I was literally whispering ‘I’d better find COBAB, I’d better find COBAB’ and yes!! It’s there!!
One question, though: how come you didn’t include Gemina? I know you liked it loads.

I have too many books that I’ve loved this year, which is a good thing 😀 I really cannot choose, but I loved Ace of Shades, Sightwitch, War Storm, The Brightsiders and the Lunar Chronicles + a dozen other books ♥ I really think that Children of Blood and Bone will become a favorite of mine as well 🙂

That’s definitely a good thing, haha!
Ace of Shades is on my TBR so that’s good to know! 😀 Really loved The Brightsiders as well – although there was an overload of drama and that was a bit.. too much for me?
Ooh, The Lunar Chronicles! ❤ I read those last year – love them!
I hope it does! It's a magnificent read and I can't wait for the sequel! 😀

*chanting approaches from the distance* Illuminae. Illuminae. Illuminae.
Illuminae is my fave of the year so far. Even though it wasn’t released this year??? STILL SO GOOD! :3
I’ve being glancing at A Quiet Kind of Thunder on my shelf for a while now….. I might have to pick it up. I am on a contemporary spree right now! My fantasy books are crying a bit…… a lot.

Hahahaha! I totally get it! I looooved Illuminae when I read it last year. And Obsidio gave me the worst book hangover ever but in the best possible way – I guess? That trilogy is pure awesomeness, that’s for sure!
Ooh, definitely recommend A Quiet Kind of Thunder! I love the deaf / selective mute rep in it and the formatting with the sign language is amazingly done as well. 😀
Ooh, they’ll only cry until you’re back on a fantasy spree. Or mixing them up again, haha.

Simon Vs. and Autoboyography are both terrific. I really need to get to Children of Blood and Bone. I also just added Quiet Kind of Thunder and 180 Seconds to my TBR, so thanks!

Oooh, I’m glad to have been of service, haha! Keep those tissues near when you’re reading 180 Seconds though – it made me ugly-cry the two times I read it. 😀

I haven’t read any of the books featured in your post. But the covers look cool!!
I selected the freebie topic and chose the top ten book festivals I’d love to attend here in the USA. Here’s a link to my TTT post for this week: https://captivatedreader.blogspot.com/2018/07/top-ten-tueday-ttt-throwback-freebie.html?showComment=1531236356028#c2173527157270187754

First, CoBaB, The Exact Opposite of Okay, and Autoboyography all made my lists this week so yay for that! Second, I’m starting to associate you with 180 Seconds because of all the love it receives on your site!! I’m so glad you loved it (I did too, I think I 4 starred it if I’m remember right?) especially because I don’t see that many people hyping it up! Hahaha. Love and tears, that’s what 180 Seconds gets from me! I simply can’t shut up about it – even less so since I reread it and it had the same emotional impact on me as the first time around.
Thanks! ❤

Girl can write a good book. I feel ya. The actual 180-seconds scene. I can still see it. I’m in that alley. So again I totally get it!

I love that you can’t pick just one. I couldn’t do that either. I kind of put a different twist on mine this week but it’s still my faves so far.

Picking only one would be absolute impossible torture.
Curious to see what twist you put on it!

Simon is for sure a favorite of mine this year. It’s probably my number 1 favorite.

I actually haven’t-I’m about 60% of the way through. I only really have time to read on the bus to and from work, so it’s taking me a while to get through!

Starfish is in my all time favorites of the year, but also of all my life. I never felt so seen in a book before. The situation with the mother was exactly the situation I had growing up (with many major differences, but the essence is the same)

It’s amazing how you can feel so.. validated by reading a book like that, isn’t it? My father has narcissism and it was hard growing up with someone like that around. It majorly infected me, my being and.. well.. everything. Seeing something like that in a book, even though there definitely are differences.. I hope they’ll be more books like it – that’s for sure. 🙂

Consort of Secrets- what a cover! I love that one. and Starfish looks intriguing as well, I’ve seen that one around but haven’t ever checked it out. I’ll have to go over to Goodreads and do that. 🙂

My favourite this year so far has been the Illuminae Files by Jay Kristoff and Amie Kaufman. I’m usually not a sci fi type of reader, but the format of these books is so awesome, as is the story itself!

Right?! I’m not a sci fi-reader myself, but the format totally had me intrigued and now I’m so happy it did because I loooove those books. 😛
