TTT – SUMMER ~ Goals, bucket list and TBR [+ Looking back on my Spring TBR]

Summer Goals

We all know the monthly TBR’s, but I felt like it was time for something more because I want to focus on more things than reading and… Well, since I love lists and since I see goals as a challenge, I figured… Why not?! Maybe if I list them and post them on my blog, it’ll actually kick my butt into action for once! And it’s a pretty fun way to keep myself accountable for my actions or lack thereof?

With Summer around the corner, I had the brilliant idea of setting myself seasonal goals! So I’m simply merging everything into one with this week’s TTT, which is our Summer TBR!

I can only start working on all of this starting June 21st. When Summer has gone, on September 23rd, I’ll be checking how many of these goals I reached!

Season Goals

Book / blog – related

º Post on Instagram every two days at the least.
º Read 30 books.
º Reread Harry Potter.
° Start my reread of the Game of Thrones-books.
º Do NOT post every day; even if it’s only a week.

Personal / health – related

° Walk home from work at least seven times.
° Drink more water.
° Eat at least two different kinds of fruit every week.

Bucket List

º Make fruity popsicles
º Go on an impulsive camping trip
º See the sunset while at the beach
º Barbecue
º Make my own lemonade
º Wash my car
º Go swimming at least once
° Watch five DVD’s
º Go for a hike in the Ardennes

Summer TBR

Since Summer equals my June, July, August and September challenges, I’m going to try and set up my TBR taking those into account. Let’s not forget about my YALC TBR either… Here’s what I’m hoping to read!

Hunting Prince Dracula (Stalking Jack the Ripper, #2)Defy the Stars (Defy the Stars #1)Scythe (Arc of a Scythe #1)Thunderhead (Arc of a Scythe, #2)The CallThe Inquisition (Summoner, #2)The Battlemage (Summoner, #3)Dreams of Gods & Monsters (Daughter of Smoke & Bone, #3)The PowerShatter Me (Shatter Me, #1)Angelfall (Penryn & the End of Days, #1)The Pledge (The Pledge, #1)

Of course, I can’t put up my seasonal TBR without looking back at the previous season. Let’s take a look at the books I put on my Spring TBR and actually ended up [re-]reading! Not great, but not bad either, I’d say!

CarrieStalking Jack the Ripper (Stalking Jack the Ripper, #1)Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (Harry Potter, #1)180 Seconds

What are some things you want to do this summer? Reading goals, other goals, bucket list? Tell me all about it; maybe I’ll even add to my own!

  1. Good luck with your goals!! (I really need to drink more water too, I’m soo bad at staying hydrated 😅) I really need to get to Scythe too 🙂 And I hope that you like The Call, I think it’s such an underrated read!

  2. 30 books is a lot! Although I’m reading my 12th book this month, so I guess I might hit 30 as well.

A lot of those books look really good. I read Game of Thrones last year and it took a long time. I may or may not read them again when (if) Winds of Winter ever comes out.

    1. My boyfriend read them already and is raving about them. Since he rarely reads (and even more rarely actually finishes a book), that’s definitely saying something! Looking forward to it. 😀

      Thank you; you too!

  3. This is a great idea!! I need to be better about making goals like this because I’m terrible about it now. I’ve really been wanting to read Scythe and Stalking Jack the Ripper. I’ve heard they’re awesome! And hopefully you love Angelfall because I really like that one! 😄

    1. Thanks! Haha, feel free to copy my idea. 😀
My boyfriend has been raving about Scythe so I’m bound to love it! I liked Stalking Jack the Ripper but didn’t really feel the chemistry between the characters? I’ve heard it’s better in the sequel though, so we’ll see.
      Haha, fingers crossed! 😀

      Happy reading!

  4. I really need to set some summer goals because at the moment I’ve fallen into a really terrible routine of reading all the time and blogging every day but I’ve not really been doing anything outside of that, and it’s starting to develop into a less than healthy cycle so setting some other Summer goals would be super good for me. Also YALC IS SO SOON.

    1. I haven’t been putting the time in my blog I want to, so I guess we’re experiencing the opposite of the other, ha. I do believe setting a bunch of goals helps though! If only because you don’t want to wrap up summer and go “oh, I didn’t do any of them. oops” ha. 🙂
AND IT IS. I’M NOT EVEN CLOSE TO FINISHING MY TBR FOR IT. D:

  5. I’m trying to keep my reading goals for the summer more focused on contemporary fluff, if only because Summer just makes me want to read them. Aaaaaand the rest of the year I just read Fantasy anyway. There are so many books I need to read!! >.< *faints at the to-do lists I keep making*
This is a great list of goals! I hope you achieve them all! Happy Reading!

    1. I had a huuuge contemporary spree last year. Right now, I’m still not really feeling the same urge though.. Which is why my TBR isn’t really contemporary-ish? Maybe I’ll change my mind and mess it all up, haha. Who knows!
I looooove to do-lists! Although I keep losing mine.. I don’t know how. It’s as if my lists go all “NOPE. WE’RE TOO FULL. WE’RE OUT.” and poof on me..
      Thank you! ❤

  6. YAY I LOVE LISTS haha. Best of luck for all of your goals, Kathy, I’m sure you will do great. I’ll look forward to your instagram pictures and, an impromptu camping trip? That sounds fun haha I hope you’ll do that! 😀
I will look forward to hearing what you think of Scythe, I have heard great things about that book from fellow bloggers! 😀
Best of luck for all of your goals! xx

    1. SAME HERE. I adore lists. Lists for everything!
Thank you. 🙂 Hahah, I really have to use my Insta-story more, don’t I? Like; I should totally use my story for those things if I do them. No. WHEN I do them.
That impromptu camping trip is probably going to be in France – Drancourt, a camping we’ve been at before. Loved it there! Do believe that’s the other side from where you’re at though, haha.
Same! And the boyfriend is raving about Scythe so it HAS to be good, right?

      Thank you! ❤

    1. Thank you!
Haha, I might make it sooner rather than later because I quit drinking cafeine and I desperately need new things to drink. :’)
Right?! Last time I went camping was n September so a trip is looong overdue!

    2. I went to a little cafe last week and they had the BEST homemade raspberry lemonade. I am totally in love with it now and as such, I know what lemonade I’ll be making myself, haha. [And yes, I’ll be throwing in some extra raspberries as well!]

  7. Good luck with your goals! This summer my friends and I are planning on teaching me how to swim, since I can’t 😬 and I have to write a research paper for school 👍🤗🤗

    1. Thank you!
Oooh, that sounds fun and scary at the same time, haha. I really can’t imagine having to learn that on a later age. Good luck! And have fun! 😀 [And don’t drown? :P]
      Oh boo. Stupid school.

  8. Ooh Dreams of Gods and Monsters; I love that whole trilogy! I also loved Scythe and need to get to Thunderhead soon. ALSO – Hunting Prince Dracula. I’m so excited for the third book!! I have a lot of books that I own that I really need to finally read this summer like Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor and I also need to finish the illustrated Chamber of Secrets and read the third illustrated HP book.

Good luck with all of your goals this summer. I hope to swim as much as I can this summer, and I also need to get moving more and eating better.

    1. I loved the first book, but really struggled getting through the second one? I’m hoping the third one is as good as the first one, haha.
My boyfriend is raving about Scythe and Thunderhead. He rarely reads so having him actually raving about a book is a VERY good sign!
Oooh, HP ❤ I just finished Order of the Phoenix yesterday. I love the signed editions; can't wait for the next one honestly. It's more of a drooling-session than a reading-session whenever I open one of those, haha.

Thank you! I really want to swim more as well, but we'll see how it goes. We can only try! 😀

  9. It’s awesome that you’re setting goals 😀 Reading 30 books sounds doable, but still quite a lot, so if you want to concentrate on other things too, isn’t that too much…? You know best though, I’m just saying.

I really want to more eat fruit too, that’s an awesome goal.

I’m doing three reading challenges in July (one of them is yours :D) and a super long/challenging one in August, so if I can reach my goals in those, that would be great. Otherwise, I’m just reading as many things I can before I go back to uni because I’ll definitely have less time/energy then.

    1. Haha, I like challenging myself. I’m not putting the pressure on; it’s more like a motivation for me to actually pick up those books since most of them have been on my TBR for ages now. 😀

Thanks! I do eat some fruit, but I know I should eat more to have a more healthy diet so yeah.

Awesome! Oh, which one are you doing in August? I’m going to get my OWL’s then! Or so I hope, haha. I haven’t checked all the prompts yet – from what I’ve heard so far, that readathon is so challenging.
Understandable. Hope you get all the reading in you want! [That’s one reason I’m happy with working; no more school!]

    2. My plan is to do my OWLs in July, and NEWTs in August. I want to complete all 12 prompts in the OWLs, but 100% completion will be impossible at the NEWTs, so I’m aiming for Outstanding in 4-5 subjects. We’ll see how it goes 😀

NEWTs is definitely super challenging, but you’re not /meant/ to complete the whole thing. Which I still need my brain to adjust to, because not doing the /whole/ challenge feels like a failure 😀

    3. Ooh, nice! Have fun!
I succeeded at getting all my OWLs, but I failed.. at making a wrap-up? So I had to recheck whether or not I really remembered correctly, haha.
I’m hoping to get all subjects for a career as an Auror! But I’ve yet to set my TBR. 😛

True. I am the exact same. My brain is trying to tell me I have to do ALL the prompts but that’s simply impossible. Or I should start reading all the comics and I don’t even.. like reading those.. Haha.

    4. I wasn’t really looking at the careers, I just picked the subjects that give Empathy in Hogwarts Mystery, + some extras 😛

    1. Rereading that monster was one of my June goals, but it’s safe to say I’m not going to make it since I haven’t even started it yet, haha. I hope you succeed at your goal though! 😀

  10. Good luck with your goals 🙂 I’m doing a Harry Potter reread as well but it’s going very slowly at the moment because I keep taking all these new books out from the library. I can’t resist when I see a new book on the shelf 😀

    1. Thank you!
Honestly, since I got through Order of the Phoenix, my brain is telling me to read some other books for a while because it starts to feel like I’m rushing through my rereads and I want to savor them, haha. So I’m pretty much having the opposite of what you’re having. :’)

  11. Oh some great books on your summer tbr. I loved Angelfall! And I was quite surprised by Defy the Stars. Best of luck with all your goals. I so need to drink more water too.
