ApTHRILL / April: TBR

ApTHRILL

April starts tomorrow. Like, the first of April. Here’s me hoping there won’t be any lame jokes around but we all know we’ll be drowning in frustrations and crushed hopes by tomorrow evening – as is always the case.

But, no jokes yet! Instead, I’m sharing my TBR! As you know, I’m hosting ApTHRILL during April. You can check out all the info in my original post.

I was thinking for quite some time on what I would do for this month’s challenge. When I reorganized my bookcases a couple of months back, it hit me! I have so many novels by Stephen King that it seemed like the perfect way to get through those. Sure, it won’t all be thrillers, but King mainly writes horror and suspense so… I’m accepting my own twist on my own challenge. Beat that.

Here are all my King-novels!

The Green MileUnder the DomeItInsomnia
CarrieOn Writing: A Memoir Of The CraftDoctor Sleep (The Shining, #2)Sleeping Beauties

I have no clue yet which ones I’ll read and how many. I’m simply going to try and get through as many of them as possible, but I’m sure It won’t be read this month, haha.
There are also two other books I’d love to read as soon as possible – and that fit my challenge, I think?

Stalking Jack the Ripper (Stalking Jack the Ripper, #1)Hunting Prince Dracula (Stalking Jack the Ripper, #2)

But, of course, I wouldn’t be me if I didn’t have other books to read as well. I’m going to an author meet on April 20th, which means I have to read certain books. I can hardly show up going “Oh, sorry, didn’t read your books but hey! Sign my copy!

So here are the books I have yet to read for that one.
I’ve already started The Exact Opposite of Okay so that’s a plus!

The Novice (Summoner, #1)Children of Blood and Bone (Legacy of Orïsha, #1)The Last Namsara (Iskari, #1)The Exact Opposite of Okay

Also, eARC’s. You all know how much I love my eARC’s – secretly trying to get rid of them all but I’m failing big time? – so here’s that pile!

Love ConnectionSometime After MidnightRegrets (Follow Your Heart #2)Paris Ever After
Brave EnoughSticks and StonesThis Is Just My Face: Try Not to StareThe Unbinding of Mary Reade
The Art of French KissingThe Lost Savior (Alinthia #1)The AdultsFirst Survivor: The Impossible Childhood Cancer Breakthrough

Any books on here you feel I should read first? I know a lot of you are on my case for not having read Stalking Jack the Ripper yet though…
Are you joining me in my ApTHRILL challenge?

Yep

    1. Trying my hardestttt! First focusing on the books for that author meet, haha. And I really want to get some King-books read because those count towards “reading off my OLD tbr” and I need more books crossed off.. :’D
Although.. Didn’t I buy those two in 2017? Or ’18? I don’t even know anymore.. *just checked* 2017! I AM READING THOSE.

  1. Good luck getting through more than just Under the Dome or It in a month if you start either of those…huge doorstops both. 🙂 I was just thinking about my favourite Stephen King books…I really enjoyed the Dark Tower series, The Stand, The Shining and Misery. I felt that It became almost unintelligible towards the end and spoiled it for me…but the one I disliked most would be Cujo…what a crock that was. Still you can’t like them all eh? 🤔

    1. Ha, thank you. I’m still not sure whether I’ll read any of those two. The size of those books really is holding me back at this point and I have so many other books to read.
I’ve only read The Shining and Carrie so far. Definitely liked The Shining so I’m curious to see what Doctor Sleep will bring me. I’m not looking forward to the clown in It though. I’m scared way too easily and have always hated clowns… 😛
You definitely can’t like them all! But as long as you like most of what you read… 🙂

  2. You’ll meet Tomi Adeyemi? I am officially screaming now OH MY GOD. Also, hell, those sure are a lot of King novels! (not even mentioning the ARCs anymore cause honestly do you ever not have a bajilion ARCs to review- I will never understand your productivity levels but will continue to aspire to get there haha)
Great post! My April TBR will be up later today as well 😀

    1. YUP. I loooooove that I’m getting that opportunity – started Children of Blood and Bone yesterday, whooop.
Also checked off one King-novel already, haha. I’m going into April STRONG.
[Seriously, do not aspire to get there because it’s a pain in my butt sometimes. A lot of times. I don’t even know where to start anymore when it comes to my ARC’s and I just want to read my own darn books for a while but I CANNOT.]

    2. Woah, that’s… that’s a damn strong start:))
I was aspiring to the levels of productivity !!! But also to the ARCs so I get your point 😦 aghh I know and understand :<

    3. Haha, it all comes down to it pressuring my levels of productivity. The more I have to read / do / write / schedule / plan / BLOGHOP [I haven’t done that in weeks?], the more I get stressed out about the whole ordeal. Although lately I’m having a “don’t care”-attitude towards it because I’m realizing I’m only human, haha. [Instant humming “I’m only human after all, lalala]

    4. Omg bloghopping haha :’) I so need to do that in more evened out quantities and not… all at once and then none for three years :’)
I think I’ve sorta taken a small hiatus from the blog?? Like I have these posts written and they’re looking at me and they’re completed but I just can’t get myself to post them?? I’ve also been mad swamped into SAT work…

    5. Hahaha, that sounds like me! I’m already ridiculously proud of myself for having cleared out my comments. I was almost A WEEK behind on those and it’s horrible to answer people that late. But now I’m back on top – for now. :’)
If you’re not feeling it, you’re not feeling it. I’m the exact same right now and although the guilt is starting to consume me bit by bit, it’s just the way it is. We have lives outside our blogs after all. Sometimes we need to give that a bit more attention than our blogs – although I wish my brain would start to freaking cooperate on blogging-part. :’)
SAT’s go first though! Those are ridiculously important since it’s all about your future!

    6. Oh god, the comments can get real nasty to catch up on, I know what you mean.
Yeah, we do have lives outside of the blogs, but it’s so fun to be here! It makes as little sense as a reading slump. I relate!
Agh, true, but it’s all a mess and I’m so confused and ugh :<

    7. It’s awful, haha. I’m desperately trying to keep them as empty as I can right now because I cannot cope if I get home and the thing has exploded again. :’) Pretty much feels like a never-ending fight, haha.
Ooh, boo. Take some time off and do something other than reading / SAT’s. Just something else entirely to reset your mind for a bit. Mindless things is what helps me best when I’m like that. [Baking for example, haha.]

    8. Mine thankfully isn’t that much of a journey, but I still get swamped.

Yeah, I’ll have to do spring cleaning today (mum’s yelling at me as we speak). I like cleaning though, so that’s pretty dope 😀

Baking is also really cool, only I’m trash at it haha :’) can’t bake to save my life. I make a mean rice and eggs dish though! ❤

    9. Mine keeps exploding, haha. 😛

My lord. You like cleaning? Come visit me and CLEAN. I hate it. My boyfriend hates it. And when we’re cleaning we’re just a non-stop whining party. :’)

      Oooh! Sounds good!

    10. Oh damn.

Aish, I know what you mean. I like cleaning because it sets my mind in order, if you know what I mean. When I’m cleaning, I completely detach myself from anything else.

      Liked by 1 person

    11. I can do that when it’s just me cleaning – somewhat. But I hate cleaning on my own because I still feel like my boyfriend should help. It’s not like I’m living on my own and it’s also his filth I need to clean? 😛
Unfortunately he has ADD so while cleaning it’s just.. a mess.. he starts one thing, gets distracted by something else and does that and then again and again. He’s cleaning – there’s just no freaking sense in how he’s doing it. [He once vacuumed the floor while I still needed to dust off EVERYTHING..]

    12. I know what you mean, I hate cleaning someone else’s stuff. It’s the #1 reason I want to finally move out.
Oh, yeah, I can see how that can turn messy :’)

  3. Are you going to the YA conference for your author meet? I love so many covers of your e-ARC again but there are two that look sooooo beautiful: Brave Enough (those colours.. I could watch them for.. a very long time) and The Art of French Kissing! Love love love them (and now want them too). Happy reading!

    1. I was supposed to go to Yalfest itself but since my calendar has been thrown upside down, I’m only going to the Belgian one that Friday night.
The cover of Brave Enough is what made me want to request it even before reading the synopsis, haha!
      Thank you! You too! 🙂

  4. I’ve only read IT and Carrie from your list! I loved IT, although it’s a massive book!

Also, I’ll be participating in ApTHRILL, I will have my TBR up tomorrow. I’m excited to finally get around to reading some of these thriller and suspense novels I own!

    1. I finished Carrie in a day, haha. I totally thought it’d creep my out but it didn’t so yay me. I don’t know if I’m going to read It this month – It’s a MONSTER of a book and.. like.. I don’t know. [Maybe I’m just avoiding the clown as long as I can..]

Awesome!! I have yet to get a move on my bloghopping but I’ll definitely take a look! 😀 [I’m a bit behind on comments, hahaha.] Have fun reading! 😀

    2. Exactly. I thought it’d freak me out at some point but it didn’t -fortunately, haha. Brilliant way of easing into King’s books really.
Although I don’t think my brain’s ready for IT yet, hahah.

I caught up! Like! FINALLY! I don’t even want to know how much time I invested in replying on comments but I freaking did it. 😅

      Liked by 1 person

    1. It’s definitely a monster of a book, that’s for sure. I still don’t know whether I’m going to pick it up this month or not. Time will tell. 🙂
Right?! Definitely a pretty one. 🙂

  5. Doctor Sleep and Carrie are great quicker King reads! I finished It in December – took 3 months but was so worth it!!

    1. I finished Carrie in a day, haha! Now reading Children of Blood and Bone, but after that probably some more King. I don’t know if I’m going to start It just yet because it’s such a monster of a book, we’ll see. 😛

    1. I’m looking forward to On Writing simply because I love his writing style and am curious to see what he’ll share about the process really.
Doctor Sleep.. Well, I’m definitely eager to find out what happens after The Shining, haha.

      Thank you!
