Book Blogger Insider Tag

Tag - Award

Hi Munchworms!

Apparently people really want me to do tags, even though I said I’d quit them, because I keep being tagged and then I see the questions and all of a sudden Kathy has a “okay, let’s do this”-attitude. Which is weird and out of character, just saying.

Anyway! Siobhan @ Siobhan’s Novelties tagged me for the Book Blogger Insider Tag which felt like a fun way to see what it’s like behind the blogging screens. Sort of.
Thanks for the tag, girl! Be sure to check her out – she really posts some fun stuff!

THE QUESTIONS

1. Where do you typically write your blog posts?
During my break at work or when I’m home at my desk. Nothing weird about that!

2. How long does it generally take you to write a book review?
That really is impossible to know. I often start writing my review when I’m still reading the book because I think it’s easier to get certain feelings out that way. Then I just let it sit there until I do my blog prep – which is about once every two weeks? – before I edit the thing. And then it sits in my drafts until I have the munches I need.. So.. Yeah.

3. When did you start your book blog?
I started it on June 13th 2017. Yes, I know the exact date. It was an important date, okay? Honestly, starting my blog felt so special that I simply can’t forget the date.

4. What is the worst thing about having a book blog in your opinion?
The pressure and tendency to compare. We pressure ourselves to be better, do better, read more and it’s so unnecessary. We started this for our own pleasure and it should stay that way.

5. What is the best thing about having a book blog in your opinion?
Connecting! With you guys, but also with authors. I’ve found some author-friends along the way and I’m honestly so glad for that. Of course there are plenty of fellow bloggers who feel more like friends now than anything else.
I also love how many books I get in contact with. I really do read books that I wouldn’t have heard of if it weren’t for my blog and other people’s blogs.

6. What blog post have you had the most fun writing so far?
Honestly, I like writing all my posts. If I wouldn’t, I simply wouldn’t do them? But I guess I really like ranting and pouring out all my emotions over books I really, really loved. Examples being Autoboyography, 180 Seconds and a couple more.

7. What is your favorite type of blog post to write?
Like I said, the reviews on books I love to pieces – no doubt about it. Although I do like TTT’s as well, since those make me think about all the books I’ve read so far and those I have yet to read. [Although the latter is a bit confronting sometimes..]

8. When do you typically write?
During the weekend! Honestly, I need to schedule in blog prep or I wouldn’t do it. I’m such a freak when it comes to planning things that I just need to do it that way. Sure, I write some posts during the week but I never finish those. Editing, finishing up and everything only happens during weekends.

9. Do you review every book you read?
I do – on Goodreads. Not all my reviews appear on my blog but that’s simply because I’m not a fan of tons of “meh”-reviews. I like sharing the books I’m raving about or disappointed about most.

10. How do you write your book reviews? With a cup of coffee or tea? With Netflix? Cuddled with your fur baby?
With a can of Monster on the right, my bullet journal / planning spread on the left!

11. When do you write your book reviews? Right after finishing the book? Two weeks after finishing the book?
I explained that earlier! Just go back to question… 2!

12. How often do you post?
Pretty much daily? I swear I’m not making that my goal! Although some people apparently don’t believe that.. I just read a lot, so I have loads of reviews. Not to mention the memes I love doing and the random discussion topics I come up with.. A month is easily filled that way? I don’t know.. I don’t really mind if I don’t post for a day or longer, but it simply hasn’t really happened the last couple of months, haha.

  1. Fun tag! I used to be practically obsessive about writing reviews *immediately* after finishing a book. Then I kind of got out of the habit and… yeah, now it’s ridiculous how much time lapses sometimes. Ugh. Really need to return to my good blogger ways. 🙂 I enjoy doing TTT posts, too… or anything with a list, really.

    1. Feel free to do this one too! 🙂

I’m trying to stick to the habit but I’ve been getting in a sort of “life” slump lately. Nothing catches my interest anymore, so my blog prep has been waiting and waiting to be done. I don’t even have my TTT prepped so I think I’ll be skipping today..
Time to get our bums back into gear and go back to being the well-planned bloggers we were, haha.

  2. What a fun tag! And thank you for tagging me, Kathy! I loved your answers. It is interesting that you start writing a review when you are still reading – that way, you won’t miss the points you want to make for sure! Smart cookie, you are! 😉 Love this tag and I’ll do this like ASAP 🙂

    1. You’re welcome! 🙂
Haha, right?! I’ve only started doing that by accident but I noticed it works brilliantly for me. Not to mention I sometimes get to compare my feelings from during my read with the ones after I finished the novel.
      Have fun with it! 😀

  3. The love and hate part of blogging feels very relatable and I don’t think it’s only me :-). I remember the day I started my blog as well, it’s February 28th. Nope couldn’t wait one day longer lol. I’m just going to ignore your request though, I hate doing tags (that said, I have one tomorrow but you mustn’t think I like someone more, I was tagged over a year ago :-)). Very interesting to see how someone else goes about blogging!

    1. Haha, at least it wasn’t February 29th! Imagine having to celebrate your blogiversary then.. 😛
Ooh, that’s okay! I pretty much ignore a ton of awards / tags as well because the questions are always so similar and don’t feel “new” to me at all. 🙂

    2. I’ve been thinking about doing a post like that and I just might! I’m still in the middle of my blog prep [read: I have yet to plan pretty much the entirety of April] so I could definitely add a post like that! 😀

    1. I didn’t do it like that at first. It just kinda happened when I was in the middle of a book one day and had specific things in mind I wanted to say. I just went ahead and wrote them down and then decided to already write them out properly. Afterwards I realized I’d already prepped half my review and I kind of liked it, haha.

    2. I don’t even want to admit how often I have to google a book to remember a certain character’s name.. :’) I can finish the book two days prior and already my brain’s fuzzy when it comes to details and names.. It’s horrible. :’)

  4. Lovely answers – though I don’t know how you manage to post so often while you’re working, too – I imagine you writing your blog posts SO quickly and drafting everything out soooo quickly, it’s crazy haha. Thank you for the tag 🙂 x

    1. Hahaha. It’ll be the eternal “secret” since there isn’t really a secret to it.. I simply know that I have now planned ZERO posts for April so.. we’ll see how that one goes. :’)
      You’re welcome! ❤
