TTT: Spring TBR + Looking back on my Winter TBR

TTT

Hi Munchworms!

This week’s topic for That Artsy Reader Girl‘s Top Ten Tuesday is:
“Spring TBR”!

I’ll be going into that topic in a bit, but first I want to take a look at my Winter TBR and see what I actually read of that list. I am genuinely curious about that!

WINTER TBR

When Dimple Met RishiQueens of GeekThe Gentleman's Guide to Vice and Virtue (Guide, #1)We Are OkayWonder Woman: Warbringer (DC Icons, #1)Forest of a Thousand Lanterns (Rise of the Empress, #1)A Darker Shade of Magic (Shades of Magic, #1)FangirlThe Name of the Wind (The Kingkiller Chronicle, #1)Nevernight (The Nevernight Chronicle, #1)

BOOKS I ACTUALLY READ

When Dimple Met RishiQueens of GeekThe Gentleman's Guide to Vice and Virtue (Guide, #1)
We Are OkayWonder Woman: Warbringer (DC Icons, #1)Forest of a Thousand Lanterns (Rise of the Empress, #1)

That’s 6 / 10! Like, I did way better than I thought I had? How amazing is that! Okay. I’m having a tiny moment of pride right here.

So what about my Spring TBR then? Let’s see! As you know I’m doing ApTHRILL next month, so I’m taking that into account. Then we have Moody May – which I will not make a TBR for – and Jazzy June – which is all about rereading. Let’s see what I came up with…

CarrieOn Writing: A Memoir Of The CraftDoctor Sleep (The Shining, #2)The Green Mile
Stalking Jack the Ripper (Stalking Jack the Ripper, #1)Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find ThemHarry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (Harry Potter, #1)
FangirlA Game of Thrones (A Song of Ice and Fire, #1)180 Seconds

Obviously, I’m going to try and read the King-novels during ApTHRILLFantastic Beasts, Stalking Jack the Ripper and Fangirl are books I might get to during Moody May but we’ll see about that. As for Jazzy June, I really want to reread the entire Harry Potter-series, 180 Seconds and A Song of Ice and Fire. I read the latter in Dutch years and years ago, so it’s time to read them in English and actually read them all.

What’s on your Spring TBR? Any books we have in common?
Or books you think I’d like as well?

Yep

    1. Thank you! I was so surprised when I found out, though. I couldn’t even remember what books I put on that TBR.. :’)
Just checked and I already added it to my TBR on Goodreads in the past, haha! 😀

  1. ApTHRILL, I love it!! Also love all your picks! I really want to read The Gentleman’s Guide, and you already know I’m dying to hear your thoughts when you get to the Stalking Jack the Ripper book!!

    1. Thank you! Felt like a lightbulb in my head when I finally figured out the theme and name for April’s challenge, haha. 😛
I liked The Gentleman’s Guide, but I really am looking forward to the sequel – Felicity’s story – waaaaay more.
I knooooow! Here’s me hoping I’ll actually get to it.. :’D

  2. I love your monthly themes, especially Moody May. Your TBR also reminds me that I keep saying I’m going to start reading some of Stephen King’s books but still haven’t gotten around to any of them aside from 11/22/63.

    1. Thank you! 🙂 It took some brainstorming to come up with them but they really motivate me to read different books once in a while.
Same! That’s exactly why I’m planning on reading more of his work. The only one I’ve read so far is The Shining. 🙂

    1. Thank you!
I’m keeping my fingers crossed for all those books. I also have Hunting Prince Dracula. Like, those covers are beautiful and I couldn’t not buy it even though I didn’t read SJtR yet, haha. The cover for the third book is also amazing! Let’s just hope the story is equally as amazing for all three. 😛

  3. Congrats on your winter TBR success! None of your Spring TBR books are on my official list, but I so need to read Doctor Sleep, and I probably should have included 180 Seconds because I kind of promised a friend I’d get her a book signed by Jessica Park at Book Bonanza in July, and I should probably read something by her before then and have 180 Seconds in audio.

Looks like a great list for you either way. Good luck!

Ooooh, I’m so jealous you’ll get to meet her.. Wish I could too, haha. I’d love to get my copy signed. 😛 Preferably a copy that isn’t ruined by tears, but hey. :’)
It’s definitely a book worth reading / listening to!

      Thank you!

  4. Cool themes! That’s a great idea. I liked Fangirl, and yay for re- reading Song of Ice and Fire. It is fun (and time consuming lol) to read ’em all the way through!

  5. Hmm, I might join ApTHRILL, even if it’s just to read some more Stephen King (or read any at all since I didn’t read his stuff so far oops?)… does it count as joining if I plan to read It by King? I might read more horror, but I don’t know if it’s my style yet :’)

I really hope you’ll like Fangirl, I absolutely loved it! I have Wonderwoman on my TBR and have had it on the TBR for so long oh lord :(( I so need to get to it!!

    Great post ❤

    1. You’re definitely welcome to join in! The “official” post just went up today. 😀 And that DEFINITELY counts. It’s horror. It’s huuuuuge and it’s King. I also have IT on my shelves but I think I’ll be keeping that for some other day, haha. 😛
ApTHRILL is the perfect way to find out whether or not it’s your thing! 🙂

I liked Wonder Woman but I did have some issues with it as well. Overall it’s a fun and adventurous read though! I’ve heard so many great things about Fangirl; the expectations are real, haha. 😛

      Thank you! ❤

    2. Hmmm, then I’ll be glad to try and join!

I really hope Fangirl meets your expectations!! It’s a really good one 💛

  6. Oh you did a great job with your winter TBR – and you read all the best books 😉 and re-reading 180 seconds and the harry potter series….. okay, you’re in for a treat – and loads of tears hahaha 🙂 x

    1. Thank you!
Haha. In for treats, drooling over food and a lot of tissues. That’ll pretty much be June wrapped up even before it started. :’) I’m already dreading the moments Dobby, Sirius and Dumbledore have to die all over again.. Ugh..

  7. I know, I know, I haven’t even replied to your other comments yet lmao. But. I really love how you did this post! I wish I’d thought of evaluating my winter TBR. Hmm… *goes to check*

I read 7/10 of my Winter TBR T10T list! :O I’m hella proud of us!

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Haha, I really was curious about that myself since I didn’t even remember what books I put on it.. Pleasant surprise to see I ticked off that many!

Whoooop! That’s awesoooome! Apparently we’re still good at sticking to TBR’s?! As long as we get about three months for it, that is.. 😛

  8. Rereading Harry Potter should be something wonderful to look forward to! You should definitely read Fangirl, it’s such a heartwarming novel. Didn’t know Apthrill was a thing, but it seems like a good idea and I might try and participate as well 🙂

    Liked by 1 person

    1. You have no clue how much I’m looking forward to that! I’ve been for months now, haha. Same for Fangirl. I’ve heard great things about that book. 🙂
Haha, Apthrill is my thing which I invented while I was brainstorming my monthly reading challenges. 😛 Feel free to join in! My “official” post is up today. 😀

  9. I want to do a re-read of HP series too especially now that the movie franchise expanded. Maybe soon I hope. *Whispers* I have to buy the whole set because I only borrowed them in the library when I’m in HS.😉

ApThrill sounds amazing! I’m keeping that and will be joining as soon as I can.😊

    1. It’s simply a world where sooo many adventures are possible. Not to mention Rowling gave the perfect basis for all the history and creatures and everything..
Haha, I feel you. I did get them myself eventually, but the first time ever were loaned books as well. Now I finally have the English version – I got them in Dutch years back – so I feel like a reread is definitely in order.

Awesome!! The “official” post is up today. 😀

    2. It’s close to classic. Maybe before she wrote her first book in HP series, she knew that it will branch out eventually. She recently actually invited writers to co-write with her for the expansion of the Wizarding World.

I’ll make a list with books that I have right now. I bought The Vanishing Girls and Girl in Pieces lat year but haven’t read them yet so those title will be a perfect fit for ApThrill. Do you host these monthly memes every year?😊😊

    3. Oooh, that’s amazing! Although I do hope our known characters stick to their true characteristics / voices. I found our favorite three people had.. changed when I read The Cursed Child and it bothered me.

Awesome! 🙂 It’s the first time I’m doing them, but I think I’ll be doing them as long as my blog stays alive – which could be for as long as I live for all I care, haha. Maybe change one or two according to my inspiration but for now, I’m sticking with the ones I have. 🙂

    1. Thanks! Honestly, I was shocked myself?! I didn’t even remember what books I put on there before I had to draft this post, haha. :’)
Making lists is way too much fun. ❤

Right?! It's been years since I reread them all so I'm really, really looking forward to that.

      Thank you!

  10. I’m re-reading the HP series again this year too (currently reading the illustrated version of Prisoner of Azkaban). I have the final Shades of Magic book on my Spring TBR – I hope you love the series if you get to it!!!

    1. Those illustrated versions are BEAUTIFUL! I’ll probably be reading my regular English books when I reread them, except for Prisoner of Azkaban because I haven’t leafed through that one properly yet. And what better way to do that than to just reread it, right? 😛
Thank you! I’m really looking forward to Schwab’s books!

    1. I’ve been looking forward to both of them for ages now! I only heard good things about SJtR and people keep “fangirling over Fangirl”, same for Carry On. I meant to buy the latter but I first want to read Fangirl and then make up my mind, haha.
      Aaaalll the books to read!

    1. I’m such a pussy when it comes to some of his books that I’ll be reading them when the days are long and bright, haha. More chance of avoiding the sleepless nights – or so I hope. 🙂

  12. Does monthly challenges sound like so much fun! Did you like Forest of a Thousand Lanterns? I really need to read that one ASAP, I was looking forward to it forever and I still haven’t read it haha.
Hope you get to A Darker Shade of Magic soon, I love that trilogy so so much. And we get two spin off series!!
I’ve read the whole A Song of Ice and Fire series in Dutch, tried to read it in English but couldn’t get through it. But that was years ago so I might need to try again!

    1. They are! Feel free to join in if you feel like it, haha. 😀
Oooh, I did like it! My review should be posted on my blog. 🙂 It was dark and sometimes gave me the creeps, which I didn’t expect since the author is such a.. happy and fluffy person all around. 😛
I knooow! Everybody keeps telling me I should pick those up ASAP but life simply doesn’t allow me to. Eternal struggles right there!
I can imagine them being a bit harder in English, especially on a younger age but I’m confident we can do it! 😛

      Liked by 1 person

    1. Same here though, haha. I was so surprised to see how many I read of those. 😛 I tend to focus on my own monthly challenges and the monthly TBR’s I create, not the seasonal ones at all. 😛

  13. I agree… You did great with 6 out of 10 book in your winter TBR. 🙂
And goodluck with your new list,,,, I find King’s books intimidating, Im not really sure why. I only read 2 of his books and loved them though. 🙂 SJtR is one of my faves, hope you like it, 🙂

    1. Thank you!
They definitely are intimidating, haha. But I think maybe they’ll be less intimidating once I start knocking them off my TBR one by one. Hopefully reading the thinner once will get me enthusiastic about the big monsters. 😛
Thanks! I’ve been looking forward to SJtR for ages now. 🙂
