Sunshine Blogger Award

I’m a ray of sunshine! Or so I’m told, since I got tagged for the Sunshine Blogger Award.. Here’s me answering some torturous questions.

Tag - Award

Hi Munchworms!

Halfway through February, Siobhan @ Siobhans Novelties tagged me for the Sunshine Blogger Award. Thank you, Siobhan! It brought that extra bit of sunshine in my life, ha! Such a lame joke.. Sorry..

It’s been a while since I did this one – I think? I’m not even keeping track anymore.. – so… let’s do this!

∼ Thank the blogger who nominated you in a blog post and link back to their blog.
∼ Answer the 11 questions the blogger asked you.
∼ Nominate 11 new blogs to receive the award and write them 11 new questions.
∼ List the rules and display the sunshine blogger award logo in your post/or on your blog.

What are you hoping authors change or finally include in their books for 2018?

Honestly, a lot more diversity. Books with LGBTQIA-rep are popping up more and more but that’s not the only diverse rep we should get. I want books featuring blind people, deaf people, signing language, overweight people and so much more.

Which trope do you love/hate?

Honestly, I’m not really one of those people who are full on for or against tropes. I tend to simply enjoy them. The only way I dislike any kind of trope is if they’re simply executed in the lamest, most predictable way possible. I think When Dimple Met Rishi was the last book I read that was way too predictable for my liking. The typical “girl meets boy, doesn’t want to like him and ends up dating him anyway after something went horribly wrong” got on my nerves in that one.

Which OTP is your favourite? Or which OTP are you hoping will sail?

Feysand. Yup. Not even explaining that. Although I’d rather have Rhysand for myself but hey. Who doesn’t?!

Which book of 2018 has disappointed you?

2018 has only just started and I have to answer this already?! Oh boy. Let’s torture my brain… I think I’ll have to go with Truth or Dare by C. Spencer. I simply expected more of that novel and didn’t get it.

Which villain would you kiss, marry, or kill?

Siobhan, you’re seriously not asking easy questions here…
*Me taking the easy way out:*
Let’s kill Voldemort, give young Snape a kiss and marry.. well.. Fred and George don’t exactly count like villains, right? Oh, I don’t know! Okay, let’s pretend I haven’t read ACOMAF and ACOWAR and go with Rhysand? This isn’t cheating, right?

What would you like to see changed or fixed in the blogging community?

The competitiveness. Lately, I’ve noticed so many people focusing way too hard on comparing their blogs and stats to others. Not in a “I’m just curious”-kind of way, but in a full-out “Ha! I have more!”-way and it’s so.. annoying?
Also the jealousy. We can’t do anything about where we live and the circumstances we live in. No need to be jealous of those things. We’ve all had to work to get where we are, really. Sure, some have to put in more effort than others, but that’s life?

Which character would you want to rewrite?

Monty. I need him to be less of an egocentric.. thing.. so I can maybe like him more? I liked The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue but that would definitely make me love it? I think?

Which author are you dying to get a signature from?

So many! Clare, Rowling, Maas. Even having a book signed by Stephen King would pretty much make my day! Also having the books I read an eARC of and then bought afterwards.. I would love to have those signed! [If I Die Before I Wake by Emily Koch and This Heart of Mine by C.C. Hunter definitely being on top of that list.]

Do you think you should judge a book without reading it (especially if you’ve heard bad things about it)?

Actually full-on judge it? Nah. Just go with a respectful “I’ve heard this and that and it made me realize it probably won’t be my thing.” No need to break down an entire book because of things you’ve heard without telling why you’re bad-mouthing it in the first place. Simple, clear reasons why you won’t read a book yourself do the job just fine without going hate-mode on a novel.

Which books are you anticipating the most for the next few months?

Seriously?! I have a whole shelf of 2018-releases I’m interested in! I guess I’m mostly looking forward to sequels of series I’ve read, though. Oh, and definitely Angie Thomas’ upcoming novel. And the collaboration of Adam Silvera and Becky Albertalli. Those can only be a-ma-zing.

Which characters would you love to see get in a fight? Who do you think would win?

Alosa and Celaena! Pretty sure Celaena would win but they’d have the best time fighting each other. Both the sassy females, throwing comments around and trying to intimidate the other? Oh, I definitely want to see that fight.

I’m tagging.. all of you. Especially you, Alex and Sophie and Norrie and Destiny and.. everyone. Okay? Nobody’s escaping this!

  1. Thank you for the tag! ❤ I always love your tag answers because they're always so entertaining and cute, lmao. Though, this one:

"I want books featuring blind people, deaf people, signing language, overweight people and so much more."

    1. You’re welcome!
      Hahaha, thank you.

[Can you imagine an LGBTQ novel with a POC that’s also blind or deaf? Like. I’d die and go to heaven a happy girl.]

    2. Oh my gosh, right?! And plus size! I feel like I’m going to cry when Leah on the Offbeat gets here, just because it’s a bi plus size girl (hello, it me), but I would love it even more to see that in an own-voice POC book!

    3. Yessss!
Without a freaking doubt. I’ll be either crying about it perfection or crying about it disappointing me and I want it to be the FIRST so I can put it front and center of my bookcase and slam it into people’s faces saying they HAVE TO READ IT if they want to be friends with me. There. :’)
Now, that would definitely be perfect!

  2. I know it’s not a new book, so it kind of doesn’t fit with your first answer, but if you haven’t read The Stand by Stephen King, that has a character with learning difficulties, and it also has a character that’s a deaf-mute (both are such good characters).

    1. I have a whole pile of King-books already but that one isn’t among them – yet! I’m planning on having them all so I’ll keep in mind to buy a copy of The Stand whenever I go to the bookstore next. 🙂 Thanks!

    1. Simply by actually sharing them with one another. There are some bloggers – I can’t remember any right now – who sometimes include their monthly stats in their wrap-ups. Like, they posted 8 times and had over 4k views or something like that. :’)

  3. Haha, I live for your sneaky answer to the villain question! And yes, Feysand for life!!

I completely agree with the blogging situation you mentioned- I personally only try to go over my own limits and whenever I wanna go over a number of stats, they’re always mine. I do catch myself sometimes longigly looking at blogs that do very well, but I’m not jealous in any way… Motivated, yes; looking forward to that moment in the future, yes. Never jealous though?

Great post, and congrats for the award! I have this one in my drafts as well, gotta get to it one of these days haha :’)

    1. I couldn’t pass up the chance to be sneaky! Nope!

I loooove that you look at it that way! Honestly, there are so many bloggers dealing with that pressure. It ain’t pretty. I’ve been doing a good couple of pep talks in the last couple of weeks and although I love supporting those people, I sometimes want to just shout at them to IGNORE THE PRESSURE. But.. Well, it isn’t easy. I have to battle it myself sometimes as well. We all have our moments of insecurity. :’)

Thank you! Haha, I think I have two tags/awards left in my drafts but I haven’t had the motivation to actually do them. Yet. 😛

    2. Yeah, we all have them… And it’s nice to have someone with you so it’s really nice of you to have been there for people going through it 💛

      Also wow I relate I have like 10 though I’m a bit of a failure rn :’)

    3. If people are there for me at those times, I only think it’s fair to return the favor and give back what I got. 🙂

Haha, you’re not! I’m simply not saving them all because some have such.. not fun questions to answer and I’m tired of those to be honest, haha. 😛

    4. Completely agreed!

I know how it is… I have no excuse other than I just wrote reviews and discussions and forgot tags and award existed? Oops?
