TTT: Discoveries of 2017

TTT

Hi Munchworms!

The first Top Ten Tuesday of 2018, guys! Let’s see if I can make it through a whole year of those? Probably. That shouldn’t be that hard, right? Especially since I like doing these so much, haha. Anyway!

This week’s topic for The Broke and the Bookish‘s Top Ten Tuesday is “New-To-Me-Authors I read in 2017”

Since 2017 is the year I really got back into reading, there’ll be quite a few big names on my list. Please don’t shoot me, okay?
Just keep in mind that I actually discovered them eventually!

Here’s the covers of the books that introduced me to them!
In random order.

Warcross (Warcross, #1)Turtles All the Way DownEleanor & ParkDear MartinThe Hate U GiveA Court of Thorns and Roses (A Court of Thorns and Roses, #1)Queens of GeekSix of Crows (Six of Crows, #1)The Duality of Nature (The Monster of Selkirk #1)They Both Die at the End

Agreeing with this list? Any books on here that you have yet to read? Books you didn’t like at all that I loved?

Yep

  1. I loved Marie Lu’s Young Elites series but I still need to reads Warcross. I have read every book in the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas but haven’t picked up ACTAR yet. I do own it so eventually. Great list!

    1. I absolutely loved Warcross! I have yet to read any other work of Marie Lu but I’m definitely going to.
Haven’t finished the ToG-series yet – the last installment I read was Heir of Fire – but I’m on my way, haha. I do hope you get to read the ACOTAR-books soon! ACOMAF is definitely my favorite. 🙂

    1. Oh don’t make me choose. They’re all my favorites, haha. THUG and Dear Martin for the message they send, Queens of Geek was all the fluffiness I needed and wanted and Warcross, ACOTAR and The Monster of Selkirk have amazing worlds. They’re all favorites for different reasons, haha. 😀

    1. I love fantasy! And I’ve just added the book on Goodreads (my memory is awful and I need to write down book titles all the time!). This year I hope to read more fantasy, so maybe I won’t make it wait for a lifetime! 🙂

    1. Ooh, I love the SoC-duology! Hope you do too! I have yet to read the Grisha-trilogy though. Those are on my wishlist, haha.
I really hope you’ll get to read The Monster of Selkirk! 😀

  3. Dear Martin and Turtles All The Way Down are definitely on my to buy list (still waiting for the paperbacks). I got They Both Die At The End for Christmas! Definitely gonna start reading that one soon once I completed all my reading for uni. I loved ACOTAR…it was so addicting… I couldn’t stop reading! Though I sadly have to say that I didn’t like Warcross at all. 😦

    1. It’s such a shame you have to wait for the paperbacks so long though!
They Both Die At The End was pretty much a cry-fest for me, at the end.. :’) Good luck with your uni-reading!
ACOTAR is love! ACOMAF is even more love though, haha.
Too bad you didn’t enjoy Warcross! It was my first Marie Lu-novel and I was hooked from the start.

    2. It was my first Marie Lu as well and after hearing so many great things about her, the novel just didn’t live up to my expectations. Sad though, because the idea for the story was amazing.

Yes, the struggle with paperbacks is real…but I really just prefer them to hardbacks, though I do cave in occasionally and buy a new hardback copy because it’s gorgeous or I can’t wait for the paperback edition. 😅

    3. Awh! That’s always the downfall to hyped books / authors.. I’m glad I didn’t have that but sometimes you just can’t help it and your expectations go through the roof no matter what you do.

When it comes to reading, I like paperbacks. Simply because holding a hardback in one hand for a long time hurts after a while, haha. But I hate it when I accidentally break my spines… Which is the benefit of hardcovers? I can never seem to make up my mind when I have to say which one I prefer. :’)

  4. Sarah J. Maas was my big discovery this year! I can’t believe it took me so long to find her but she quickly became one of my favorite authors!!
Happy to see Marie Lu and The Hate U Give on your list as well! This is a great list, and the fact that you have Leigh Bardugo on your list makes me think I need to give her books another shot.

    Here are my Top Ten

  5. I discovered Marie Lu in 2017 as well and loved Warcross! I actually read 7 books by her, which is a lot 😄 I loved THUG and Queens of Geek as well 😍 A Court of Thorns and Roses was actually the last book I read in 2017, so I have yet to review it 😄

    1. If you do get to her, I highly recommend starting with Warcross, it’s her best book by far 🙂

I have been hearing that sooo often and now I’m really, really curious 😀 Good thing the book is already ordered and on its way to me 🙂

    2. I read Warcross almost as soon as it came out, haha. Loved it! My brother recently ordered me one of her other trilogies? He wouldn’t even tell me which one so I’m going to find out next Friday, haha.

Yaay! Hope you love it!! 🙂

  6. I haven’t read a few of these books but adore most of these authors. I have THUG, Queens of Geeks on my list as well. And I need to read ACTAR , Warcross and Eleanor and Park and SOC and plan to read Six of Crows.
P.S. I’m trying to as well do this regularly and complete a whole year. Good Luck to you. I’m trying to get them schedule ahead if I can

  9. Ahhh! I discovered Marie Lu’s “Warcross” this year too. In fact I’m not sure WHY I didn’t include her on my list, but “Warcross” did make it onto my “best of” post, so there IS that. Makes me eager to read her “Legend” series. 🙂

Here’s to a great 2018 – and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

    1. Haha, sometimes other books / authors just pop up in your mind sooner than others!
Same here! I haven’t read any of her other work YET but I’m definitely planning on it.

      Thank you! You too!!
