Liebster Award

Hi Munchworms!

I got tagged by Haley @ Beautifully Books for the Liebster Award ages ago: shout-out to her and a huge thank you! And sorry for taking ridiculously long with this? Oops..
Then I scheduled this post and Erik @ Breakeven Books tagged me as well! Not to mention that I read his post in the middle of the night and I just started crying because the things he says about me and my blog are just.. *insert heart-eyes*

The rules

√ Thank the person who nominated you.
√ Answer the 11 questions they gave you.
√ Nominate 11 blogs. Reading this? TAGGED!
√ Give them 11 questions to answer.

Haley’s questions

How long have you been blogging?
I’ve been blogging since June 13th this year. So, obviously, not that long!

If you were could only read three books for the rest of your life, what would they be?
Oh, I hate questions like this.. Can’t I just pick my whole TBR? There has to be something in there that I’d never get bored of…
But if I’d really have to pick, I’d go with The Lunar Chronicles [I’d make them publish all books in one huge-ass books for this.], same goes for Harry Potter and… the Throne of Glass-series. SERIES.

Do you prefer paperback or ebooks? Why?
I prefer physical books, stop. Paperbacks or hardcovers, that doesn’t matter so much to me. But I’d much rather have an actual book in my hands than my phone or Kindle. It just feels better, smells better and is more enjoyable.. I also love checking how far along I got in a book and that’s way more satisfying when you actually hold it instead of having it on a device.

What are your top three favorite genres for books?
Fantasy, YA and romance!

What is your favorite book to movie adaptation? Least favorite?
My favorite? Honestly, I don’t know. For some reason I can always find something that I don’t like about a movie… I was trying so hard to come up with something else than Harry Potter, but nope. I’m going with those. Even though there are so many differences between the movies and the books, they’re still amazing.
As for the least favorite – easypeasy – all other adaptions! Okay, no. That’s not true, kidding! Relax already. My least favorite would be the adaption of The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones. Honestly, that movie stabbed me through the heart, brain and soul all at once. Thank the skies the series is good. Let’s just picture MALEC here, yes?

If you could enter ANY fictional world, which would it be?
I would love to explore the world of Harry Potter! But, apart from that, Prythian would be pretty amazing as well. Percy Jackson’s world? Yes, please! I’d like to see me some actual gods! The worlds Matthew S. Cox has created in two of his novels, Convergence and Nascent Shadow, also seem like worlds that I’d like to explore for myself.

If you could have a superpower, what would it be?
Appearing to be at work, having all my work done for me while I’m at home reading. Yup, that!

What fictional character would you spend the day with if you could?
Oh boy. Jace? Spice things up a bit instead of having a relaxed life all the time. Or maybe Jem. Or maybe I should go with Rhysand because we all know that has to be awesome.
Yeah, I’m going with Rhysand, haha!

Do you like to go out of your comfort zone with genres?
Actually, yes I do! I’ve started reading more this year because of the Popsugar Reading Challenge which made me read books that I normally never would’ve picked up and I’ve loved most of them. Even though I tend to stick to the genres I know I love, I’m not afraid to pick up something different once in a while. Especially if people keep recommending it to me.

What’s your favorite movie/tv show/book at the moment?
My favorite movie? I don’t really have a favorite movie. I’m more into series / tv shows. As for those, I recently saw the finale of Shadowhunters season 2 and it left me in pieces. I cannot wait for the third one! The Vampire Diaries and The Originals will also always hold a special place in my heart.
Favorite book? Nope! Not doing this again! Bye now!

Which of your all time favorite books do you recommend for your followers and fellow book bloggers to check out?
Even though I’d love to throw a list at all of your heads with books that I’d recommend to the whole wide world, I won’t. Because I’m always mentioning the same books over and over again. Most, if not nearly all, of you have read Harry Potter. Percy Jackson is one I’d recommend as well. Same goes for The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas, Furiously Happy by Jenny Lawson and… To go for a more unknown book, check out How I Magically Messed Up My Life In Four Freakin’ Days by Megan O’Russell! And definitely check out my 2017 FAVORITE: The Duality of Nature by C.E. Clayton!
Okay, apparently I did throw a list at you guys, sorry!

Erik’s questions

Do you judge a book by its cover or give the blurb the benefit of doubt?
The cover is usually what makes me pick up a book to read the blurb. Although the title might convince me to read the blurb as well…

What are you reading at the moment?
Uuh, my CR is a mess with Dracula by Bram Stoker, Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine, Because You Love To Hate Me, Interview with the Vampire and The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August.. So.. Ugh.

If you could only take one book with you, what would it be?
I’d probably take my huge fairy tale anthology simply because there’s multiple stories in it? I don’t know. Don’t make me pick. I can’t leave all my books behind…

This one is a two-part question: Favorite villain? Favorite hero?
This question I hate. Can I skip this? This is the kind of question I can never find a decent answer to..? There are so many amazing characters out there, both good and bad. It’s hard to find a favorite. I don’t do favorites. I HATE FAVORITES. Equal love for everyone?! No?
For a favorite hero I’d go with Alosa because she’s one of the first bad-ass female MC’s I’ve come across in a while. [Daughter of the Pirate King by Tricia Levenseller]
As for a favorite villain.. I’m still going to pass on this one, haha.

What do you enjoy most about blogging?
Talking with bookworms, meeting new bookworms, getting to compare my opinion on books with someone else who’s read it as well. Sharing my passion, coming up with new things – like my monthly challenges and the Christmas Card Exchange – … There’s so much to love!

What’s your blogging routine like?
Hm. I usually write my reviews the moment I’ve finished a book. Apart from that, I try to prepare my TTT’s and WoW-posts in advance so I don’t have to be on top of my blog every single day.
I do try my absolute hardest to comment and reply to everyone within the day but sometimes life gets in the way!
Apart from that, I just keep writing posts whenever I feel like it and have the time for it. I don’t really have any fixed schedule or routine?

When did you begin your blog and where do you hope to take it?
I began my blog on June 13th this year, which is not even half a year ago – wow. It certainly feels longer than that..
I don’t really have set goals for my blog. I simply enjoy what I’m doing and sharing with the book-loving community. Sure, it’s amazing to reach certain milestones – like the 500 followers I celebrated last week – but it’s not like I’m purposely working towards it. I just want to do what I love doing without having it pressure me in any way, haha.

Tea, coffee, or cocoa?
Cocoa. I’m not one to drink tea, or coffee. Except in emergencies where my cans of Monster are poof because of my boyfriend. Then it’ll be coffee, but otherwise.. Nooope.

Hardback or paperback?
I honestly don’t mind that much. Sure, hardcovers look prettier on those shelves but they also hurt my hand when I want to read while lying down? They both have their advantages and disadvantages, haha. I still like my physical books more then eBooks though!

If you could visit anywhere in the universe, in or out of time, parallel or present, where would it be?
Visit or actually go live there? It’s a difference! I’d love to see The Night Court though. Does that count? I also want to visit all the largest and oldest bookstores in the world because.. I like the feel of them, really.
If I can go live anywhere in the world? Take me to London, please. That city feels like home to me ever since the first time I went there.

You’re going on an epic adventure to save the world. Name two characters who would help you succeed.
I’m taking Celaena and Rhysand!

What’s your favorite word?
Dream.

I’m not going to tag anyone for this. Instead, I’m going to take the time to thank some people who I would nominate instead because their blogs / personalities / whatnot are just amazing.

First of, Erik. Thank you for making me cry. And that’s by no means sarcastic at all. I literally went “Oh, a tag!” and then started reading and was crying surrounded by friends. They had quite a laugh when they heard why I was crying but it was honestly something that made my day. It really did.
Thank you for being amazing! And having some fun posts to comment on!

Alex, I can’t not name you here. You’re pretty much the best friend I have in the blogging community. I love your taste in books, I love your posts, I love your personality. Simply put: I’m so happy I got to meet you and get to annoy you with my bookish rants practically every single day!
I do still hate the fact that you’re giving me a book buying ban but.. oh well. Still love you!

Noriko and Dani, for always having fun posts for me to comment on. For commenting pretty much on every post I publish. For being amazing, honest and straightforward.

One of the prettiest blogs I follow, is definitely Adrienne‘s. Not to mention that I simply love her hair – no doubt about that. I actually think I didn’t even tell her that yet but now you know!
I loved reading Crown of Midnight with both you and Alex, having someone to talk to about the story, guess about the next chapters and what would happen. Not to mention sharing the hurt over certain characters! Alex, this goes to you as well!

Destiny, for having amazing hair – even though I always hated pink, I’m starting to hate it less lately, haha – and posts and taste in books! And also for having the most impossible TBR ever!
Lu, for having amazingly fun and honest posts, for having pretty images which makes reading so much more fun. And because she keeps saying sorry for replying late even though she should know that I really don’t care!
Last but not least, Mikaela! For having the best discussion posts ever. I love reading them and I lovelovelove commenting on them with way too much words. Like, literally, the longest comments ever!

Yep

    1. Hi!

You can just go ahead and tag people you think fit the description of the award. If you can’t find a description, you can just tag the bloggers you’d like to answer your questions.
You don’t really have to KNOW the person behind the blog. When I just started out I simply tagged the blogs that I enjoyed reading most. 🙂

    2. You’re welcome!

I know Coffeeloving Bookoholic & Darque Dreamers definitely read fantasy. Duskangelreads, Howling Libraries are also two blogs who review fantasy on a regular basis. 🙂 [The links to those blogs are in my sidebar somewhere!]

    1. You’re welcome!

It’s awesome to know that you feel like you can comment on my posts. I know that there are posts out there that don’t really invite people to do just that, so I’m definitely happy that mine aren’t among those. 🙂

    2. And then there are some posts where I finish reading them and I’m like “okay, I can’t think of anything to say other than ‘nice post.’ I want to give other book bloggers more than just two words as a comment, you know?

    1. You’re welcome!
BD sent out the missing two books last week. Received Tower of Dawn yesterday so I’m thinking Heir of Fire will hopefully arrive today. I don’t know how long I’ll be able to leave it lying there though, haha. I want to find out what’s going to happen next!

And me too!! So glad I got to know you and Alex. 🙂

    2. Alex says she may need until the end of this month to start the next read along. I am dying to start it to, but I just love reading and chatting about it, so I will wait for her. I know its tempting, but it was so fun chatting with you too, and it would be fun to have you in the next read along!

    3. I’m going to see how I feel; since I’ve been in a bit of a slump, I’m trying to pick up only books that I really feel like reading so if nothing else grabs my attention, Heir of Fire might be the next victim. I’m trying not to!

    4. I can definitely see Daughter of the Pirate King helping on that part! I have plenty of books to pick from, haha. I’m going to try and stick with eARC’s and author requests for a bit longer, but Stalking Jack the Ripper has been calling out to me for WEEKS now.. :’)

    5. Oh that sucks so much! I’m trying to switch between eARC’s and author requests now so I get those done for once. Even put it on my blog that I’m not accepting any requests at this point. I’m in desperate need of a clean slate, if only for my brain haha.
Try not to wear yourself out on those! Might get you into a slump again! Sometimes you just need to read something you reallyreally want to read for yourself. 🙂

-I could not NOT take that comment in the perv-way since it’s Monday morning and I so don’t feel like working. Naturally, this means I’m on my blog, which I should be doing, but I’m doing it anyways. YAY MONDAY.
