Hi Munchworms!
As you know, I decided to dedicate this month to sequels and started Sequels September!
The first book that I read, is Gemina by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff. I remember falling in love with Illuminae, after having my doubts about it.
I’ve said it then, I’ll say it now: I never thought I’d like the sci-fi side of it, but boy, I do!
Moving to a space station at the edge of the galaxy was always going to be the death of Hanna’s social life. Nobody said it might actually get her killed.
The sci-fi saga that began with the breakout bestseller Illuminae continues on board the Jump Station Heimdall, where two new characters will confront the next wave of the BeiTech assault.
Hanna is the station captain’s pampered daughter; Nik the reluctant member of a notorious crime family. But while the pair are struggling with the realities of life aboard the galaxy’s most boring space station, little do they know that Kady Grant and the Hypatia are headed right toward Heimdall, carrying news of the Kerenza invasion.
When an elite BeiTech strike team invades the station, Hanna and Nik are thrown together to defend their home. But alien predators are picking off the station residents one by one, and a malfunction in the station’s wormhole means the space-time continuum might be ripped in two before dinner. Soon Hanna and Nik aren’t just fighting for their own survival; the fate of everyone on the Hypatia—and possibly the known universe—is in their hands.
But relax. They’ve totally got this. They hope.
This isn’t going to be a long review, simply because there’s nothing to fault regarding this book. Not. A. Thing.
I love the whole template. How everything switches from camera footage-descriptions, to chatlogs, to journal-pages… It makes the whole journey of reading these books that much more special. I doubt I’ll ever come across another book like this – from another author, of course – and love it equally as much!
The story… Well, let’s just say that I read this book in two days time – WHILE I WAS ON ROAD TRIP. I honestly shouldn’t have been reading that much but I just couldn’t stop. I had to know more, I had to find out what happened.
As such, we even left for dinner at 9 pm because I was desperate to finish it, haha.
I love Niklas, I love Hannah. Most of all? I love Ella! That girl is badass and has a place in my heart from now on, no doubts about that.
I’m going to conclude this review with…
Why do I have to wait until March 2018 to read more?! That’s a torturous long wait, you guys! Gemina’s ending was a huge… Well…
I’ll just admit it. I went completely bananas and wanted to smash something. Yup.

This review is just further proof to me that I made the right decision to stop reading Gemina when I was halfway finished. Now the wait for Obsidio won’t be as torturous because I still have half of Gemina left to read. 🙂

With all the other amazing book releases in the upcoming months, I think it will pass by faster than we expect.
