Wrap-up: August

Hi Munchworms!

Are you ready for this? Because today is the mother of all wrap-ups!
This post contains my regular monthly wrap-up, my ARC August wrap-up AND my Read-a-thin wrap-up!

I honestly thought you’d like this better than have three posts with wrap-ups, haha.

First topic! Book haul!

Yes, of course we’re starting with the most important one since I should be on a book buying ban… You do remember last month’s book haul, no?

Anyway! Considering everything, I’ve behaved – I really did!
The only books I added to my collection are books my boyfriend bought me – I love my puppy-eyes.
Oh, and I already got to open my birthday gift, haha! I’m still doubting if it counts as a birthday gift since he was more eager to read Death Note than I ever was though…

Anyway, here’s this month’s haul!

ARC

ARC August is an annual challenge hosted by Read Sleep Repeat of which this year is the fifth edition!

As you might remember, I didn’t have an awful lot of ARC’s to read. I only mentioned three in my original post. The funny thing is that I suddenly got approved for a couple more, right after posting that! So, time to show my updated list and see how much progress I made this month.

My NetGalley ARC’s:
All the Wrong Chords – Christine Hurley Deriso
Everything Must Go – Jenny Fran Davis
If I Die Before I Wake – Emily Koch
The Beautiful Ones – Silvia Moreno-Garcia
The Summer of Hopes and Dreams – Lynsey James
Nascent Shadow – Matthew S. Cox

Book I got thanks to Curiosity Quills Press:
Convergence by J.R. Rain and Matthew S. Cox

The book that I won through the LibraryThing Early Reviewers:
Rewind – Denise Allan Steele
Unfortunately, this was a DNF for me…

I also got asked for two blog tours, which means I have even more books to read!
Fire Lines – Cara Thurlbourn
This blog tour was canceled..
A Pearl for My Mistress – Annabel Fielding

And of course, we have some books that have been given to me to review – thank you, authors! I’m counting these as ARC’s as well; is that bad?
√
Awash with Summer Roses – Kestra Pingree
Sublime Karma – Peyton Garver

And last, but certainly not least, a book that I won thanks to a blog tour! My first ever signed copy, you guys!
The Duality of Nature (The Monster of Selkirk #1) – C.E. Clayton

I can probably say I did perfectly! Except for the DNF, which I still think is pretty unfortunate… But I got to read every single ARC I’ve received up until this point!

The Read-A-Thin was hosted by Amanda @ A Court Of Books And Love , Chelsea @ A Very Bookish Girl, and Jessica @ JessicaMarie493.

I know you were only supposed to do six challenges, but I decided to see how far I’d get with all the books I was reading.
Let’s just say that.. I ended up ticking one challenge after the other, haha.

√ Read a 2017 release – Convergence by J.R. Rain and Matthew S. Cox
◊ Read a book that is the same color (or a similar color) as your birthstone [September, so sapphire]
√ Read a diverse book – Spellbook of the Lost and Found by Moïra Fowley-Doyle
√ Read a book with a title or author with the same first letter as the first letter in your first name [Which would be a ‘K’] – Awash with Summer Roses by Kestra Pingree
√ Read a book that is related to your favorite emoji – All The Wrong Chords by Christine Hurley Deriso [I use 🎶 way too often in conversations with friends!]
√ Read a book starting with a letter from TBR (the word “the” doesn’t count) – The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater
√ Read a book with a summer themed cover – Everything Must Go by Jenny Fran Davis
√ Read a book with a warm colored cover (orange, red, yellow, brown) – Sublime Karma by Peyton Garver
◊ Start and finish a series
√ Read a book in 24 hours – Very Good Lives by J.K. Rowling
√ Read a new to you author – Once and for All by Sarah Dessen
√ Book with water on the cover – If I Die Before I Wake by Emily Koch
√ Read a book set in summer – The Summer of Hopes and Dreams by Lynsey James
◊ Buddy-read a book
√ Read a book recommended to you by someone in the book community – The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas
◊ Read a guilty pleasure read
◊ Read an adult/new adult book
√ Read a book outside of your favorite genre – Illuminae by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff

That’s it for my giant wrap-up!

Did you join in ARC August of the Read-a-thin? How did you do?

And, are you planning in joining me in my battle against the sequels during Sequel SeptemberGemina and Crooked Kingdom are the first two books I’ll be tackling!
I probably won’t be able to read as much as I have the past two months, but I’m still going to try and demolish my Sequel-TBR, haha.

  1. The Nevernight cover is SO gorgeous!
Looks like you read lots of books this month (congrats!) The Night Circus is still on my TBR (it’s been on there for years now…) But I was able to read Illuminae this summer! Did you like it?

    1. It is!!
I postponed reading The Night Circus for years as well. I’m glad I got to read it, though. Definitely worth a reread one day!
I honestly read Illuminae because of my curiosity to the whole unique template of the book. I don’t usually like sci-fi at all but this book has opened that door. Will definitely try to read more now. Loved it!

    2. Yeah I’m not usually a big SCIFI reader but I didn’t actually know Illuminae was SCIFI going in. All I knew was that it had a unique format, and that people liked it. I’m glad we both enjoyed it!

  2. I didn’t even know about this book by J.K. Rowling.. I thought she’d be busy writing other books under her other pen name but she’s even busier than I thought. Impressive list and also cool to get a signed copy!! I only have a few but it’s so cool (and weird) to see your name in a book and a personal message from an author. Have a nice holiday !!!

    1. It’s the speech she gave at Harvard some years ago. It’s a really good and motivating one! And the illustrations in the book are amazing as well. Definitely worth a read – and it’s only 80 pages. 🙂
Haha, true! That signed copy is probably my favorite book right now.

      Thanks! 😀

    1. Haha. Pretty sure September will be different! And if not, I’ll be completely shocked.

No need to be jealous though; we all have our own reading speeds! Besides.. I was just lucky that life didn’t get in the way of my reading for once, haha.
