Sequel September 2017

Hi Munchworms!

As promised: my second post for today.
Yes, I know. I normally don’t post twice a day but since today seems to be announcement day, I’m just going with it.

Ever since the Make Me Read It Read-a-thon, I’ve been realizing how often I read the first installment of a book and then neglect the sequels because of… Well, ARC’s or other books that I really have to read first.

This means that my physical TBR-shelves – I still have three of them, double-stacked, ugh… – consist of a fair load of sequels.
It got me thinking!

Since we have ARC August, and I just realized I have tons of sequels to be read… And September is coming up… Why not have a Sequel September?! Yup, I thought it a brilliant idea – and after looking around a bit, it didn’t seem like it existed already – even though Words of Wonders mentioned it once – so here we are! If I’m mistaken and it has been hosted already this year – Words of Wonders hasn’t posted since the start of this year… – just let me know and I’ll change my whole post, haha!

Want to join me in this endeavor? I’ve listed all the important information below!

Rules
◊ Post a blogpost saying you’ll be joining me in my battle against the TBR-sequels and pingback to this post.
◊ Share your list of all the TBR-sequels that you own and then decide which ones to give priority to.
◊ If you’re sharing your updates on social media, use #SequelSeptember so we can follow up on each other!
◊ [No rule] Maybe, just maybe I’m going to give a random participant a little something.

I’ve compiled a list of all the sequels I own and have yet to read. Maybe I’ll get to go from three TBR-shelves to two? That would be awesome, but… Unlikely.
I’m going to read them in the exact order that I’ve put them. I doubt I’ll get to read them all during Sequel September, but at least I’ll be able to finish at least a couple!

Gemina (The Illuminae Files, #2)Crooked Kingdom (Six of Crows, #2)Lord of Shadows (The Dark Artifices, #2)A Court of Wings and Ruin (A Court of Thorns and Roses, #3)The Dream Thieves (The Raven Cycle, #2)Blue Lily, Lily Blue (The Raven Cycle, #3)The Raven King (The Raven Cycle, #4)
The Retribution of Mara Dyer (Mara Dyer, #3)Hollow City (Miss Peregrine’s Peculiar Children, #2)Library of Souls (Miss Peregrine's Peculiar Children, #3)

And some bonus-books since those aren’t really sequels…

Fairest (The Lunar Chronicles, #3.5)Stars Above (The Lunar Chronicles, #4.5)

Yup, I think I have a whole lot of sequel-reading ahead of me, haha!

So, are you joining me?

  1. Great idea! At first I didn’t think I’d have that many unread sequels on my shelves (I am usually super-disciplined in reading sequels), but when reorganising this afternoon I stumbled upon a few of them that I’ve been putting off reading… so I’m in! Will make a blog post about it in the near future as part of my September TBR.

    1. Haha, I was the same! I thought I had about three or four, which is pretty easy to accomplish. And then I actually started piling them up..
I had a bit more than “just three or four”, obviously..

Looking forward to seeing what sequels you’ve been neglecting, haha! 😀

    1. Haha, it’s all about catching up with me as well. I’m doing great with ARC August; so I figured I’d keep it up in September. Those physical TBR-shelves have to decrease! [If only so I can ignore my book buying ban again, haha.]

  2. Sequel September sounds like a wonderful idea! I’ve got a fair amount of them to read myself… I want to read Gemina for sure. 🙂 Good luck on your sequel adventure… and making it through those TBR shelves! 😛

    1. Reading through one shelf of books sounds like a pretty sizable achievement to me! The problem is, for every book I read, I seem to acquire about five more… 😀

    2. I have pretty much the same problem but I “can’t buy any more books for the rest of the year” – or so my boyfriend tries to say.
Unfortunately for him, our vacation is an exception. Not to mention my birthday is coming up, haha!
But I’m going to try anyway! Then I’ll have the excuse that I have an empty TBR-shelf to fill. 😀

    3. Oh the birthday is a prime excuse to buy ALL THE BOOKS, hehe. (Happy early birthday, then!) 🙂 I have more books than I know what to do with, but they’re just so pretty that I can’t help buying more. Bookstores are a dangerous place. 🙂

    4. Haha, thanks! 🙂
I know the feeling. I can barely enter a bookstore without buying at least one book. It feels like betrayal to leave without any! [Not that my boyfriend gets that, but that’s his problem haha.]

  3. This is such a great idea. I am the exact same way when it comes to reading sequels. For some reason I will read the first book and then take forever to read any of the others. I might have to participate in this with you but first I need to see if I own any of the sequels to series I have started or at least see if I can get them from the library.
