Waiting on Wednesday: August 9nd

Hi Munchworms!

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Breaking the Spine and gives us a chance to show off the books we are really looking forward to.

Three books being published during the next week, one of which I still have the review coming up. So keep an eye out for that one!

Check out my review!

“It’s not the moment that defines you, it’s the choices you make in reaction to it.”

One smile. One bus ride. One conversation. The beginning of everything.

Julianna has never wanted anyone more than she’s wanted Eric, but sometimes, life doesn’t pan out quite how you expect. The past ten years have been defined by the worst night of her life. Blinded by the weight of her pain, she dropped out of college to marry the wrong guy and moved hundreds of miles away from her hometown. But her unsuccessful attempt to run away from her demons only lands her right back on the starting line.

Feeling lost and alone, Julianna must face the ghosts that haunt her and the people she left behind.

One crush. One wrong move. One bad decision. The end of the beginning.

For Eric, it’s always been Julianna, even though she’s never been his. She’s owned his heart and broken it all in the same breath. After a series of poor choices caused him to hit rock bottom, Eric’s life is finally on the right track—until Julianna walks back into town. He hasn’t spoken to her since she left, thinking he’d never see her again, and his resolve is crumbling.

He knows he should keep his distance—she could shatter his world—but he can’t walk away from her.

Will Julianna and Eric finally get their happily ever after, or will the secrets they keep and the shadows of their past leave them Crushed?

How I Magically Messed Up My Life In Four Freakin’ Days by Megan O’Russell

How I Magically Messed Up My Life in Four Freakin' DaysEver wanted to grow a five-story tall flower in central park? How about fight a deadly battle under the subway tunnels of Manhattan?

Don’t worry. I never wanted to either. But if you’re ever being chased by ladies made of mist and you have to save the girl with the sparkly eyes you’ve never had the guts to say actual words to, there’s an app for that.

I found a magic cell phone, opened an app I shouldn’t have, burned down the set shop for my high school’s theatre, and it was all downhill from there. A drag queen seer who lives under a bridge is my only hope for keeping my mom alive, and I think the cops might be after me for destroying my dad’s penthouse.

But it gets better! Now I’m stuck being the sidekick to the guy who got me into this mess in the first place. It’ll be a miracle if I survive until Monday.

32051720All the women in Iris and Malina’s family have the unique magical ability or “gleam” to manipulate beauty. Iris sees flowers as fractals and turns her kaleidoscope visions into glasswork, while Malina interprets moods as music. But their mother has strict rules to keep their gifts a secret, even in their secluded sea-side town. Iris and Malina are not allowed to share their magic with anyone, and above all, they are forbidden from falling in love.

But when their mother is mysteriously attacked, the sisters will have to unearth the truth behind the quiet lives their mother has built for them. They will discover a wicked curse that haunts their family line—but will they find that the very magic that bonds them together is destined to tear them apart forever?

Are you planning on reading any of those? What do you think?
Or are there other books coming out in the next couple of days that I really should check out?

The cover pictures used in this blog post were found on Goodreads. I don’t claim any rights to these pictures.

  1. Oh, Wicked like a Wildfire looks gorgeous and sounds great! I may just add this book to my TBR list.

You might like the Cainsville series by Kelley Armstrong. The final book is Rituals, which comes out on the 15th!

    1. What did you think? “You make me add to my TBR, so I’m going to enlarge yours too!”? Haha!
Sounds interesting indeed! Added it to my TBR!
If I remember correctly, I read her Darkest Powers series completely..

    1. That really must be weird.. have you got a cover in mind? Like, have you imagined it? I tend to do that a lot with charactera and then get my mind blown when they do a movie adaptation and the actors are completely different! 😀

    2. I feel like there HAS to be a cellphone on the cover, since that’s the thing that messed up everything in the first place. On the other hand, that’s probably way too obvious, no?

Haha! Characters and actors are really something I can get mad about. “NO! SHE HAD BROWN HAIR. NOT BLOND.” Things like that. Or “Damn, I thought he was cuter than.. that..” Yup, recognizable!

    3. I actually like obvious covers. What confuses me is when the cover has nothing to do with the book at all! And the adaptation pain is real – I bet there will be a rambling post about that sometime in my future!

    4. Depends if it’s just a simplistic cover. I can live with those! But if it’s really something that has nothing to do with the book.. Never mind!
[I love it even more when it appears to have nothing with the book and then after reading you go “OH, THAT’S WHY!”]

I’m looking forward to that rambling already, haha!

    1. I’m really hoping the cover will be revealed by then.. If not, I’m postponing my review as well, haha. Can’t imagine posting a review without a cover. That’s like half the means to convince people to read it most of the time.. 😂

    2. Haha I don’t blame you! I think everyone initially judges a book by its cover 😂 I’m much more likely to click on a blog post with a nice photo too!
