Read-a-thons: Update!

Hi Munchworms!

As you know, I’m participating in three read-a-thons this month. Since we’re a week in – and the Make Me Read It Read-a-thon started yesterday, I decided I’d do a little update.

ARC

As far as ARC’s go, I’ve read two already this month, yay! Didn’t think I could do it, but I succeeded at finishing both before the Make Me Read It Read-a-thon started.

ARC’s I read:
Convergence by J.R. Rain and Matthew S. Cox
The Summer of Hopes and Dreams by Lynsey James

For this read-a-thon I’m using all books I read, eARC’s and physical books. I’ve been able to cross off quite a few challenges already so I’d say this is going to be an easy one. Especially since the challenge is to “only” tick off six and I’ve done that already, haha!

Challenges I ticked off:
√ Read a 2017 release – Convergence by J.R. Rain and Matthew S. Cox
√ Read a diverse book – Spellbook of the Lost and Found by Moïra Fowley-Doyle
√ Read a book in 24 hours – Very Good Lives by J.K. Rowling
√ Read a new to you author – Once and for All by Sarah Dessen
√ Read a book set in summer – The Summer of Hopes and Dreams by Lynsey James
√ Read a book recommended to you by someone in the book community – The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas

readathon

As you could see in my poll results, I had to read The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas first. I started it at 8 a.m. yesterday and finished it this morning at 6 a.m. [No, I didn’t read all night – my boyfriend had an early shift today and he woke me up so I decided to read a bit more, haha.]
With this, I can start Illuminae as soon as I get home from work – and I’ve been looking forward to reading it for ages now!

The only thing I’m still wondering about is whether or not to read Gemina after that and then The Night Circus.. Would that be cheating? Opinions? Haha!

How are your challenges / read-a-thons going along? Any update-posts? Let me know and I’ll check them out!

And don’t forget to join in my giveaway!
There’s an extra entry hidden in one of my previous posts, by the way.
Just so you know, you know?

  1. My Make Me Read It Readathon is going rather well so far. I’ve finished 6 books (the Scott Pilgrim graphic novel series) and am in the middle of The Dragons of Nova by Elise Kova.

Also, just my two cents, but after Illuminae I would wait a tiny bit before jumping into Gemina. It might make the wait for Obsidio (which has a BEAUTIFUL cover) a little easier to bear. Plus, I absolutely love The Night Circus and would like to hear what you think about it. 🙂

  2. wow, your month is going pretty well so far! 🙂 be proud!
i had the same problem with “illuminae”. but i decided not to read “gemina” right away. i have it on hold until “obsidio” comes out, then i can binge those two!! yay!

    1. Yeah, it is! I do have to admit that I’ve been hauling myself up in my reading world – thus ignoring everyone around me, haha.
Hm. I’m going to see how easy I fly through Illuminae.. Problem is that I tend to push sequels back and back and even more back until I don’t feel like reading them anymore. I really need to end that stupid habit, haha.

    2. oh yes, tell me about it! but this year i was pretty good at keeping up! i just want to enjoy “gemina” and “obsidio” together. and maybe i’ll reread “illuminae” before. we’ll see 🙂
so excited to find out, what you think about “illuminae”. 🙂

    3. It’s a disaster with me.. I always try to squeeze them in somewhere, but then ARC’s need my attention and authors are requesting reviews – which are often awesome books so I don’t want to decline at all – and.. ugh..
I never thought this would become a struggle in a way, haha!

I really have to check how I’m going to post all my reviews.. I don’t want my blog to “die” when I’m on holiday so I’ll have to keep some “older” books for then, I think.. I don’t know..

God, so much to figure out Q.Q

  3. I highly highly suggest reading Gemina after Illuminae because I read both of those in two days, they’re amazing! The Night Circus is always amazing so either way you should enjoy them! Also I wish I had enough time to do challenges 😞

    1. In two days? How much time did you need? Maybe I can figure it out that way as well, haha. Combining this challenge with work isn’t going to be that easy. Especially since I’m leaving for a festival on Friday as well and ugh.

[Safe to say I don’t really have time this week, but I thought I’d plunge in anyway, haha.]

    2. Well I got Illuminae on my kindle from the library at around 2pm and I had it done by 1am, it’s really really quick to read because of the layout, but Gemina took about the same roughly. If you get immersed in the story like I did it should go rather quickly even though they’re huge books.
      Good luck!

    3. Think I’m 30 pages in [started this morning], so I’ll see where I get tonight, haha. I’m a quick reader so it might be okay.
I just really don’t want to take Illuminae or Gemina to the festival with me. Those books are gorgeous.. While The Night Circus is near being a dead body because it’s been read so much by my mom, haha.

      Thank you!
