Hi fellow munchworms!
It wasn’t until today that I decided to start a book blog of my own. Why? Simply because I love books and reading good books makes me want to share them with everyone!
So then the wheels in my head started turning.. and turning.. Creating a blog out of nothing didn’t seem easy – still doesn’t actually – since there are so many things that you have to take in account. Add all the existing awesome book blogs to that.. But why not give it a try?
So now, Books & Munches has been created!
Why Books & Munches? Easy! I’m addicted to books and I love munching on anything good while reading. After checking my Instagram (@booksandmunches), realization hit that I practically had a matching Instagram already. Almost every picture displays food and/or books – with some exceptions of music and tattoos. It felt as if it was meant to be, cheesy as it may sound.
Maybe I should introduce myself a little. My name is Kathy, but I’ve been going with Nomo for almost my entire “internet life” so you might see that pop up as well. I’ve been around for 24 years now and I live in a little country called Belgium, in Europe. If you know it: admit it, it’s seriously only a pinprick on the world map.
I started reading when I was very young, infected with the bookworm-microbe thanks to my mom, who’s also incapable of not having her nose in a book at least once a week, sometimes a day. The first thing that pops in mind when thinking about books that I loved when I was younger: all Wicca books by Cate Tiernan. Pretty sure I wouldn’t like them as much if I reread them now. So maybe I should do that, just to find out?
Growing up and starting to work – yay for being an
adult – made my reading time decrease enormously. I didn’t even realize it was happening since I was consumed by everything in my life. That is, until I heard of the Popsugar Reading Challenge at the beginning of this year. [If you feel like a challenge, come and join in the fun!] It rekindled my passion for reading and soon I was – once again -reading multiple books a week.
The PRC made me read books I probably wouldn’t have read if I’d just been browsing bookstores and markets. It has taught me a lot about myself, my reading preferences and other genres and that’s been a reward in itself.
Of course, I also read books outside of the challenge. Why? 52 books in a year isn’t enough! Nu-uh! And there are so many awesome books being published still… Sometimes you just want to rush to the store and get them before anyone else – or preorder them and cast a curse on anyone that delays the delivery – or just spend on your money on every interesting book you see. You probably all know that feeling…
My next blog will contain my list of books for the Popsugar Reading Challenge, as well as the books that I own and still have to read. Maybe you’ll even find something you like? Or have some recommendations for me? [Cause you can never have enough TBR’s!]
Or even want to advise me NOT to read a certain book?
Let me know!
Kathy
Aww well hello there fellow book blogger.
I must say, your writing style is utterly charming and a pleasure to read 🙂
I’m a bit of a newbie to the book blogging community myself (blog turned 1 month today) and have enjoyed every minute and I’m so glad you have decided to join us here.
Likewise, I fell in love with the art of reading at a very young and it has guided many of my life decisions from majoring in literature in university to pursuing a career in publishing.
Haha, same here! I’m a huge muncher as I read so I love your name!
I look forward to reading more from you in the future – Happy Reading 🙂

Hi right back at you!
Thank you. I just took a quick look at your blog and your babbling actually reads as babbling, which is funny and enjoyable at the same time, haha.
I’m glad I joined as well! It’s already been a pleasure and I’ve already talked to more bookworms than ever before thanks to my blog.
Unfortunately I never pursued anything college-wise that has to do with reading and writing, but I’m glad you did and succeeded at it as well! College has never been my thing.
Thank you! And the same for you!
